What do you think? Does Fury Road has a chance at being nominated/winning for best picture at the Oscar?

Should it win/be nominated?

Do you think an action film should have a shot at winning the Oscars?

If you believe MM:FR didn't show character development, do you think that all artists should be forced to take characters into a process of changes during a narrative in order for their works to be considered for a Best Picture nomination, instead of allowing the viewer/reader to accompany the character through a string of events in a story?

What's you opinion about Mad Max Fury Road?

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

Nah, it's nearly impossible for a "blockbuster" win a oscar other than some special effects categories. I think Ricki and the Flash will be up their; anything with Meryl Streep is always nominated

Think Titanic and Lord of the Rings.  Many oscars including best Picture between them.

I'm hopeful that the Academy will pay tribute to Fury Road, which is, in my opinion, the best movie of 2015 so far. At the very least we should see nominations for Sound Mixing, Makeup, Art Direction, Sound Editing, Costume Design, and Visual Effects. I'd also like to see nominations for Cinematography, Film Editing, Director, and Picture.

But who knows. I have zero faith in the Academy voters or the voting process. I stopped watching the ceremony years ago when I realized what a sham it is.

This is just my opinion but no remake should ever win an oscar. Lack of originality should be docked enough points to ever allow for something like that to happen.

As far as Mad Max goes, this version was OK. The Road Warrior was still a better film. Young people will look at this years version a lot different than the people who vote for the Oscars. Young people aren't straddled with the memories of all of the 1000's of films that older people have seen over a 40-60 year span. So, they can watch Fury Road and think that it was something special, when it was really no so much from an some older persons perspective.

Bottom line in MY opinion is that it was over hyped as to quality and will have ZERO chance to win an Oscar. It may get nominated because of the acting talent involved.

I'll give you Lord of the Rings, but I never considered Titanic a "blockbuster" but my idea of a blockbuster movie is one that relies heavily on its action sequences so my views are a tad skewed

So Fury Road is a remake now?

It's not? I thought it was.

I don't watch a lot of movies, but I watched Mad Max because of all the hype.
Man was I disappointed, it was basically Fast and Furious 9: After the Apocalypse. --- Two hours of car chases and freaks with makeup.
I can see it nominated for some technical Oscars, they did a great job there for sure, but any acting, directing or best picture award is out of reach, and would not be deserved at all.

I agree, the term "Blockbuster" can mean pretty much anything. My opinion on Blockbuster is that it was extremely costly and planned to be released during peak moviegoing season.  Titanic hit both of those marks.

The cost to make Titanic was the highest ever for a movie.  It was $200,000,000 plus back in 1996 when it was made(came out in 1997).  Thats like almost $350 million now!!!

It earned $600,000,000 back then(adjusted to $1.1 BILLION today) in the US alone and over 2 billion worldwide back in 97.

I agree, it wasn't an action movie, but half the scenes in the movie involved some type of special effects.  It was done so well, that most of them are seemless.
