Could happen in the West, but not in Japan. It will be hard for any home console game this gen to outsell Splatoon in Japan.

Agreed. Splatoon will sell >1.5 million in Jp.

There is a chance but I wouldn't bet on it.

Nope. I think Mario Maker will sell 2m lifetime.

There was a time the answer would have been yes from pretty much anyone. Now it could be a seriously tight race. I think it is still possible for Mario Maker to do it, but it will be close. Unless of course Mario Maker just becomes a surprise sensation with the level sharing and the obvious potential it has for streaming, let's playing, etc. It's always possible.

I've predicted SMM will sell 4 million by 2016 and I figure Splatoon will be near 3 million. 2D mario games have insane near unstoppable legs.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

It's much more worthy of higher sales so it should. However I feel advertising Mario Maker in the US might be awkward just due to it's release date

Yes, the legs on Mario Maker will be insane, plus I am sure it will be part of Bundles for a long time.

I went to EB Games yesterday at they had the entire doorways leading in covered with Mario Maker stuff, and very few PS4/XOne. The Mario Maker advertising on the door alone took up 50-60% of the ad space.

Granted I'm in Canada so it's not as awkward haha. But if they advertise like that in most of the shops and make the people aware, this should sell fantastic.

And once Youtubers flood their channels with them playing levels it might help a ton.

Don't see it happening Splatoon will still stay strong enough to outsell it.
