Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Analysts Suggest That Nintendo's Quality Of Life Initiative Has Been "Put On The Back Burner"

It definitely wouldn't surprise me given how we seriously know nothing about this idea, other than the fact that it exists. But really I feel like Nintendo can make something of it if they try and come up with something really unique and interesting.

A patent was taken out not too long ago about QOL it's probably not being revealed because it's meant to be part of the unified platform as well which hasn't been revealed.

Looks like it needs some Life Support

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

if it is a feature of NX, I'm fine with it. but as a separate product just to measure sleeping. Won't sell that much.

7.8/10. Also, I came to make the same joke so damn you.

And we have yet to really see anything of it so it's perfectly possible.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

It's coming up on almost 3 years since QoL was announced (Jan 2014). So I think something is up that we haven't really even had a formal product unveiling.

Even those patents, while they were only made public recently, they were filed in October 2014 ... so almost two years ago.

I'm not sure. I think this will still come out, but it also seems it's clearly hit a snag somewhere.

It's quite possible that Nintendo internally has shifted focus on smartphone games to expand company revenue rather than the untested QoL, remember in Jan 2014 Nintendo hadn't yet decided to make smartphone games.

It's also possible that they've opted to focus more on NX as well.

You do know we are 2015 now? So that makes it less than a year ago since those patents showed up. And next to that, Nintendo revealed exactly on 30 january 2014 they were going to release mobile games:

So I don't think the one rules out the other.

Oops, got my dates mixed up, but still it's been quite a while.

I do think it's coming out, I just don't know if it's priority no.1 or even 2 for the company.

It's quite likely QoL which is an entirely different type of product category may require several years for Nintendo to gain brand traction. It's not like gamers are a lock to buy a sleep sensor.

Whereas smartphone games likely could start making Nintendo large revenue almost immediately.
