Should be cheaper, the only reason to really buy one of those imo.

But I'm sceptical, it does seem a little weird with their whole BC push currently to bring out a system that would essentially eliminate your ability to play your old 360 games on X1 again.

You would still be able to play 360 games on a disc less X1 since all the 360 will be added to the marketplace and those games don't read off the disc on the current X1 either since you have to download the game and put it on your HDD.

Right, but to download your 360 game onto your X1 you have to first insert the disc into the system. Taken from the official Xbox site:

"For disc-based games that are a part of the Back Compat game catalog, simply insert the disc and the console will begin downloading the game to your hard drive"

http://www.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/backward-compatibility

Yes right now they work the same way as X1 physical games you need the disc to dowload them and the disc in the drive to play them but I'm sure they will be added to the marketplace eventually.  Also a lot of those games will be titles that where digital only on the 360 also like Shadow Complex, and Super Meat Boy.

Then we would have to re-purchase those games with the Xbox One Mini since there wouldn't be anyway for the console to verify that we have the games already. Right?

Kinda like what we already do with the PSOne/Two classics on PSN.

Yes of course they will be added to the marketplace but that doesn't change what I'm saying, say you own a physical disc of RDR on 360, then you won't be able to play that on this rumoured X1 unless you rebuy it on the X1 marketplace. There shouldn't be a problem with the digital only games.

They won't make a digital only Xbox. It would go against everything they have attempted to recover in terms of PR over the past 2 years. A quieter/smaller X1, yes. A disc-less one? No way. Maybe they will launch it with an optional BD drive that you can plug into it. That might be passable.

But if you owned it digital on the 360 you should be able to re download it for free on that disc less X1 also since all your previous digital purchases are attached to your gamertag.  Anyway it looks like that rumor is false anyway towards the end of the generation I could see it happen though.  Makes more sense this gen then last gen since all games are now available from day one digital and certain games give you early access if you buy them digital.

There must be something wrong with your PS4 because mine barely makes any sound. My PS3 however sounds like a truck that has a jet engine LOL!

Well that would be a hilarious year for Xbox if true.

"We're bringing disc-based backwards compatibility to Xbox One!"

"And here's a new Xbox One model without a disc drive!"

Gee thanks.

Probably the best example on why the Xbox One Mini is very unlikely at this point in time. I won't say its not going to happen, a lot of things can happen but it would not benefit the Backward Compatibility strategy if they do the Mini now.

It's relative what you and i find loud is different. Fact is PS4 reaches minimum 50 decibels on load, secondly tiny fans make way more noise and thirdly crammed space is not good for heat dispersal. X1 is miles quieter, owned both more than once.

It's an option for some and might get a few sales.

All you people so ready to jump on a discless console are weird to me, I'm far from ready to force myself into having to buy everything digitally. What if there's a sale for games at Amazon or whatever and you can't get the game you want for cheap because it's a physical disc? No, thanks to that.

I already pay more for digital most of the time, for me the added cost is worth the convenience.

If it was cheap enough, I'd consider getting one for those XBone exclusives that don't come to PC.

seeing as i am already digital only for games and have a ps4 with blu ray for movies i can definitely see myself finally considering picking up an xbox one if the price reduction is significant.
