Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Could Zelda U be next years Wii U summer blockbuster?

Whenever we speak Zelda U these days it's always followed by the letters NX. Seeing as we know little to nothing about NX, when it's released, or its software line up, I would like to try and look at a different scenario...could Zelda U be ready for next summer. Over the last couple of years Nintendo has put out a hyped game with a strong marketing push, around  late May/early June time and has been very successful in gaining very strong software and improved hardware sales. Zelda's delay to next year, due to "implementing new ideas" was actually a smart move, with Xenoblade Chronicles X launching very close, two big open world games would cannibalize each others sales (Zelda would most likely eat into Xenoblades sales). Nintendo obviously were motoring along with Star Fox, and have a surefire hit with Mario maker so they already have a strong line up for the rest of the year. I think if Zelda could be ready for summer, it would be a great time to release, what do you think?

It could be, but I'm expecting it to be a Holiday 2016 game.

Don't see it. It will be a fall title.

If it's only on the Wii U as well, I don't see it selling very well in Japan at all. Console Zelda is in big trouble there and Wii U doesn't have the userbase to make it a game changer.

I actually would not be surprised if Splatoon outsells it WW.

It's not coming out during summer.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

It would be a great May booster IMO just like MK8 and Splatoon was. Nintendo needs to launch it next year to secure a 16million WiiU installbase IMO.

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

There's just something very sad about this statement.

The next Zelda will not launch until their next console comes out so unless there is a surprise launch next summer, no.

It's going to be an NX game, the writing's on the wall. History has shown that when a company has stopped showing a game that they were showing before,if it is still coming out, it has changed platforms to one with significantly different capabilities.

It happened with Eternal Darkness, it happened with Final Fantasy Versus/FF15, now it's happening with Zelda U, or Zelda NX as it should be properly called.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.
