Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Windows 10 can search for and disable Pirated Games

Lol get used to it people. Every company in the world is working on ways to lower piracy, something that is well within their rights to do. I can see it getting harder and harder to do as the years go on.

nope, just use linux. Linux should be getting bigger and more appealing because its the supirior OS now

FUD, was going to post it earlier if it was legit to bash M$. Would be upset if it deleted my PSP and Dreamcast backups.

"Microsoft's Services EULA is different from the one governing Windows (Microsoft Software License Terms), which means that the amendments Microsoft added recently were to protect against counterfeiting of Xbox Live and Windows Store content, and not monitoring (or disabling) illicit content on Windows 10."

Xbone... the new "N" word   Apparently I troll MS now | Evidence | Evidence

Isn't this only for Windows 10 games though?

Okie doke. Continue your piracy and pretend that it's some travesty when a company tries to stop you.

I really dont care what people do, but companies trying to stop piracy is happening and will continue too.

I'm sure a workaround will be found soon. Just like Windows 7 or XP, if MS detected a pirated version they could disable it, but all you needed was a 15KB patch to keep it active.

Piracy will never be stopped, and all this will end up doing (as it always does) is somehow screw legal owners out of their game/app.

I think it's wrong to pirate games, and you really shouldn't do it. That said, this still isn't okay.

To draw a comparison, it might be illegal to steal stuff, but that doesn't mean it's okay for cops to search everyone's houses for stolen stuff all the time at will.

No, the similarity would rather be people who are for piracy think it should be ok for me to shop at the grocery store but I think it is unreasonable that I have to check out all the merchandise before I leave.

If its limited to MS services and MS games, then sure, whatever. But if they become the "ethical authority" of my personal files? Fuck that. How do we even know that they can accurately identify the "bad" software anyways?

There are many grey areas, if you own the physical copy then you're allowed to download certain things and so on, but MS will never know that. Sounds really shady.

Again though, if they search for and disable fake windows copies for example, I'm fine with that. They kinda do that now anyways.

Can't wait for the system to block games with mods because they were altered in comparison to original versions!

Well, we will have a shitstorm sooner or later and Microsoft will remove that policy. They like to do 180s anyway.

Official member of VGC's Nintendo family, approved by the one and only RolStoppable. I feel honored.

Why would they remove a policy that exist since 2012 anyway.

Oh btw, this policy is not for Windows 10 only, it's for every Windows.

MS at its work
So win10 free to find pirates and prevent piracy brillian
