Full credit to 'Iyasu' for the Wii U data and spreadsheet

Got into an argument with little brother, argument got intense, maths became involved.

1486 points for PS4 (1751 with next gen exclusives)

791 points for XBO (1056 with next gen exclusives)

2455 for Wii U

Ratio of ~ 19:10

Pre agreed terms:

Exclusives have to be rated 75 or higher

X 1 for full exclusive x 0.7 for platfrom exclusive, x 0.3 for console exclusive

x 0.3 for downloadable instead of retail

Indies really need to be reviewed more harshly, its unbelieveable looking at how many small games on this list which are scoring higher than Infamous and Sunset Overdrive and I've bought a few only to play them for 3 hours thinking it was decent and never playing them again. Rocket League, Journey and Ori being the exceptions and actually being really good games.

These sorts of comparisons have become so multilayered as well.

Take TLOU:R which is listed as a platform exclusive. Then you have games like Halo MCC and Rare Replay. More games, more value, but they count as one exclusive. On the other hand, you can play these games (most of them) elsewhere, so the counterargument is should they count at all.

And so it goes!

Sounds like a fun idea. Would be interesting to go through the compiled data now and see if you can extract out any meaningful trends like if games with a higher multiplier (therefore more exclusive) tend to score better on metacritic.

Also I love the image of a heated debate between siblings that has you both rushing to excel to prove it one way or the other.

Why not just add all metacritic scores of exclusives together? That way better games add more to the total than bad games. And perhaps count the non retail games at 50%?
