Though I think it's fairly certain there's intelligent life on other planets somewhere, I really doubt they were ever here, if it's even possible at all for any species to travel that long and far. Would be a pretty big coincidence, in the billions of years the Earth exists and still will exist, those aliens just happened to show up here on our planet amongst countless billions, in our lifetime no less just to stop the Cold War from turning into a real one. Why would they care anyway?

Unless we're just one big reality tv-show like South Park says...

Are you saying we aren't just one big reailty tv show?

Okay, yes sometimes, it really seems lik we are .

I've read some of the alien philosophies and channeled materials and this is true. There is a federation of galactic beings working on the earth's ascension program. Part of that program involves prevention of nuclear war.

This is only controversial to the ignorant masses of atheists.

see, that's why iran should be allowed to have their own nuclear program as well.

Well as someone who watches alien shows, he has presented a theory believed by some, as there are accounts of ufos disabling missles

Sure. I'd like a copy of those materials.

The universe is really really big. Like, really big. If there was a planet with life even around our nearest star (around 4 ly away) we wouldn't be able to see it. We could try to send a message, but it would take at least 8 years until we get a response. That is just our very nearest neighbor. I'm pretty sure there are other lifeforms out there, but we will most likely never see them. After all, not only the gigantic spaces are an issue, time is also. There could have been another civilization 1 billion years ago somewhere in the milky way that has long gone. And there could also be another civlization 1 billion years in the future. Humanity itself only exists for a few million years and only in the last thousand years we really started to get all that technology. That timeframe is a pure joke in the universe. It's so small it's not even funny. Now, what crazy coincidence would it be for two civilizations to actually meet in those big ass dimensions? It's almost impossible.

Then there's also the question if interstellar travel is even possible for any lifeform. Maybe there were/are/will be intelligent life in space. But never did they achieve to reach another star. Even with our most recent tech, we would need at the very least need 10.000 years to reach Proxima Centauri. But speed is not the only issue. There are also deadly gamma rays out there which kill just about anything they fly by. And they get deadlier and deadlier the faster you move. Then there's no gravity which will eliminate your whole bones structure in just a few years time. All those are problems which could never see a solution. I won't say it's impossible per se. But there is a possibility that it is impossible. I know humans will never do it. No country on this planet would ever want to burn funds for that. And such a project would be massive and we would never see the results from it. It's kinda frustrating.

Yeah, well, about intergalactic things, just forget it. The universe is just too fucking big. I'm not kidding. Imagine the biggest thing you could possibly imagine. Multiply that by 1.000. Add another gigantic thing and whatever the hell you want. Sum that all up and you're not even close to the size of only our solar system. It's that big. And it is constantly moving. There are no still standing objects. Ok, now try to find a certain planet in that whole abnormous gigantic mess. Navigating alone in the universe is as difficult as it gets and the gravity of other stars will constantly change your route. Ah well, I could go on forever.

tl;dr: Two civilizations meeting in the universe is very very unlikely to happen.
