On my third attempt to download this beta. It kept crashing trying to install and my only option seemed to be to delete it and redownload it.

Did it crash or simply not install? Because if it simply doesn't install you need to update your PS4 firmware to 2.57.

Yea I didnt update to the latest firmware, silly me. Thanks!

I just had a match that was going 46 - 74, my team losing. Then, for some reason, the other team just sort of quit trying, and my team spent two minutes racking up 29 more points to win the game 75 - 74. The best guy on the other team went 22/23 K/D. This game.

Was it a party you were playing against by any chance?

That is the only way I can think of that the match could have done such a ridiculous 180.

Okay, so, maps. Since the beta opened to everybody, maps I already hated, I hate even more because camp camp camp camp. I still don't actually know map names because I pay zero attention to them, but basically:

- Newest level, snow place: it's literally just a game of camp the house

- Warehouses level: has the most variation in movement and overall design, but it still comes down to people trying to camp the large center building

- That one map that has an open space in the middle: one of the better maps, although the three path way of getting through it can make spawns a little bit screwy

- The map where you can swim from cave to building and back: the best map, by far. It's the only one I see people actively moving in because few points are easily defensible. This map is the only one I feel is truly well made out of the beta pack.

A common theme I'm seeing though is that they completely ditch the idea of even remotely complex maps to make every map as close to a basic design as possible that goes a bit like this:

:Open Area: - :Easily defended center area: - :Open Area:

It's very uninspired map design and all it tells me is that they are really running out of ideas. I know maps are rarely too terribly complex in these games, and that usually only two or three maps maximum by the end show a wide range of possibilities. At the same time, I won't be buying the game if every map seems to be designed basically the exact same way. It just gets boring. Granted, this is all from a TDM perspective, as Domination is eternally a worthless camp fest with kill streaks galore, and I just don't care much for most of the other modes.

Brand new mode called Safeguard is now available and the level cap has been raised to 40.

Just played this mode, I really like it. It's fun. With my friends obviously. Less scorestreaks flying about like Domination and really requires team work... well until the end when the robot is about to reach end goal and we just slide it to get it moving, that bit is fun.

Pros:
- It seems like it takes longer to kill people than in previous games. Hallelujah. That was my biggest complaint in past games.
- Games looks pretty good, Im sure the campaign will look spectacular. CoD has really stepped up their game in this department with this and AW
- Runs smoothly. Played for a few hours, no noticeable lag or trouble getting matches
- The supers are an interesting addition. Feels like they did a pretty good job balancing it (except for the mini gun arm one, those are unstoppable)
- The jetpack moves feel waaaaaay better than AW. You don't have as much directional control but I think its for the better

Cons:
- The wall running gets easy to do after a while, but it just seems like an easy way to get yourself killed
- I still don't like CoD MP characters having personalities. I know they started adding this in Ghosts I think, but I want my character to just be a generic nobody that I can customize (and the banter between matches is pretty awful)

On the 2 bolded, you are right about the minigun one, that'll be nerfed easy. I hope the Battery Shield one get's a buff, I activate it and it still doesn't survive a shotgun blast. Against the minigun robot you might as well not bother activating it.

And yes, I'd like to be able to add our own character designs but I guess if they stick to characters, at least let us add designs to them so we can make them look individual.

Hmm, pie.

do i need ps+ to play the beta?

I have no idea what the source on this is but apparently these are the locations of the Dedicated Servers:

They also have a data center in Montreal (below comment is from a verified Treyarch employee):

Really hoping they'll up Skill Bases MatchMaking for launch, the amount of idiots who don't seem to know how to hold a controller in my lobbies while my SPM is higher than 300 and K/D higher than 2 is incredible and fucking awful.

They might use dedicatd servers for matchmaking, but that's it. Had host migration happen twice yesterday, so the games are P2P.

It seems to use the same system as Ghosts and Advanced Warfare. Some on Dedicated Servers, some on listen servers (p2p)

Treyarch raised the level cap again to level 49.

Extended until Monday 10pm PST!
