I have it but barely played it. The controls are rather off putting. I thought with the new 3DS it would improve but that's not the case.

Just watch the famitsu scores. If you did, you would already have played it on release.

This may very well be my favorite 3DS game...
The controls take getting used to...
And the story is incredibly lazy...
But I have so much fun playing this game...

haha, you're the first person I've heard say this. I played it for a bit and found it awkward to control.

Always love when someone really enjoys a game everyone else thinks is "meh", this way the developers didn't waste 2 years of their life. My personal opinion is that it should have been a Wii U launch title, it made no sense with the 3DS's control scheme and would benefitted from larger scale and a competitive multiplayer enviornment we see more regularly on consoles.
