But, you could wait to the NPD numbers to see if it match's Techlands' claim. Why would they lie, anyway, when these things can be "easily" disproven if false?

It's not like I can give definitive proof about this, but you're talking about the game that took the media by surprise mocking Destiny's Red Bull DLC with water and it got a lot of praise, and a lot of contribution from people all over the world. I'd say the game is still very popular.

The only thing that we should learn from this is that VGC should stop posting numbers that are based on nothing. I'd prefer a comprehensive archive of actual numbers.

Do we even have a precedent that a video game company did this? You can't do this without getting legal trouble.
