Either GBA SP or DS Lite, depending on if you also want the option of playing GB/GBC game or DS games.

For GBA games, I prefer the SP over the DS lite and the GBA has the obvious downside of no backlight. If you're curious about DS games as well, go DS lite if possible.
Pixel Art can be fun.

The Micro will cost you an arm and a leg because of it's rarity, and a DS lite, although very nice, has a different screen size and is not Gameboy or Gameboy Color backwards compatible. Buy a 3DS if you don't have one already to play DS games. Just my opinion. |
But what if I can find a micro for cheap ? Is it better than AGS-101 ? I know someone who can sell me his for less than 10 euros.

If you can get a GB Micro for less than 10 euros, then your choice has been made. It's insanely portable. Naturally you sacrifice screen size, but the image is super crisp.
For supreme portability though, you want a Gamecube with GBA adaptor, LCD screen and car power adaptor.

Ninty also thought the Virtual Boy was a good idea. |

GBA for comfort (just a much better design) but SP for practicality. If only Nintendo had put a backlight in the original GBA, it would have been perfect. The SP was just too small and cramped which caused your hands to cramp up after long sessions.
I had the SP, only Ninty console ever. Great device and as others have mentioned it's the most portable.
PS, PS2, Gameboy Advance, PS3, PSP, PS4, Xbox One
DS lite. It has a much better screen than the others and the D-pad is great. I personally played Fusion and Zero on my DS lite.
Don't play any gameboy advance games on a gameboy advance, the screen is really awful compared to a DS lite screen. The gameboy advance is only good if you want to play gameboy / gameboy color games.
If you don't have a 3DS (or never had a DS in the past), I'd say go with the DS Lite. Once you finish your GBA games, you'll have access to the incredible DS library.
If you do/did have a 3DS, or care more about playing original Game boy cartridges, go with the GBA SP. I'd still say GBA+DS Library > GB+GBA Library, but I won't pretend to know your preference.
Don't bother with the original GBA. I liked it at the time...but a handheld that needs replacable batteries seems so outdated nowadays.
