Btw scrubs, you can speed up the ATB system in the options menu.

and lvl 9 sounds very low for that point in the game. Make sure you don't flee from normal battles and you should level just fine.

Not sure about Cone but I've set mine to fast. I think overall I've started to get used to it as I play more, I was bothered more about it around the time I started the game.

Make sure to set it to Active instead of wait if you want it to be more intense or exciting. Have to realize that most turn based games at the time were slower than FF9.

Hmm. I may start play it again after reading all this. It's one of my favorite FF.

You should! We've got a loooooong way to go but it's a lot of fun at the moment. Any advice as we continue our journey?

Grind in places with xp rich enemies and steal everything. haha. It's worth getting your character strong enough to handle enemies long enough to steal. If you're having any trouble with regular creatures, the bosses will give ya too much trouble to steal from them. I got a lot of nice stuff from stealing. It's been ages since I played it though. I think I will play it again in a bit.

I loved FFIX. My second favorite FF game in general. I like the characters and story. The pre-rendered backgrounds are beautiful. I felt the game actually moved faster than VII and VIII. It was just a beautifully put together experience. I don't really have any recommendations other than to tell you that the point where you're going through the Grotto before going to Burmecia is probably the hardest point in the early game. It's the place where I actually got stopped up a few times as a kid because I didn't have the patience to see where I was going wrong.

Just remember, don't grind for levels, but grind for abilities. Avoid upgrading gear before you learn the ability with the only exception really being the cross gear, large requirement abilities like Quina's Gillionaire.

This seems to be very true looking at how the game works. Have the Millionaire ability on the go right now but not sure what it does...guess we will see!

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

I just started FFVII, which is my first final fantasy game ever. Afterwards, I plan on either playing this or FFVI, most likely FFIX, though.

You should! It's an awful lot of fun.

I also thought you were a different user for a sec...

Do I happen to have the same profile picture as somebody or something?

You know I think it would be quite nice if we could have a proper logo for the thread as opposed to just the FFIX one because I'd like to make this a bit of a series. So if anyone could make a logo and submit it in the next few days (send a PM or post it here or whatever I'm not your mother) then the one we deem to be the best I will reward with a free Steam game!

Also, I think you're overrating Quina. She's a utility person, but relies too much on RNG to be truly useful. Zidane should be wrecking shop with Vivi as situation DPS.

Yeah do her attacks do varying damage; a bit like the grenades in FFXII? Sure seems like it.
