Forums - PC Discussion - Hearthstone pulls in $20 million a month

Right, that was 12 million people all playing and paying at the same time - how many played total?  If we look at just World of Warcraft the game - it says 10 million in sales.  And I know you needed the base game for Lych King, Burning Crusade, etc.  So I think our numbers have to be off - or people bought digital and we can't see them.   Plus Warcraft I, II, III, but some of them (like me) overlaped with the 'World' too.

Oh, yea, the Movie.  Hopefully it will be really good.  The still I have seen look good.  I think much will depend if they make it too 'for the kids' or they make it more of a raw less friendly story.

So it's looking like more peole are playing hearthstone than played the other Warcraft games.  So perhapse it attracked a good number of new consumers?

Blizzard have never revealed total numbers, as far as I know. The only concrete number we have is 12 Million subs in October 2010. This means the 10 Million number is likely only retail and extremely outdated.

Hearthstone certainly attracted new players. The expansion to mobile has opened up so many opportunities for them to grow the franchise. Its that ease of use. Good UI. Word of mouth. Hearthstone hits all the right notes, while it may not be as deep as MTG or other TCG's, its certainly fun.
