Forums - Politics Discussion - Police officer: "Tase first, ask questions later."

I have NO problem with this. Don't jump out your car, point your hand at a cop, then walk toward them aggressively while yelling. He's lucky it wasn't a whole lot worse.

i agree, in italy we don't allow taser and policemen are always in the fear of media bashing them, so they basically never do anything, because they're afraid of lawsuits. I guss it's a bit like defensive medicine.

They have Police Batton's for a reason -.-

If you're in a situation where someone is coming at you in anger and they might or might not have a knife or a gun, what are you going to do?  Pull out a taser or a stick?

How about people simply not be fucking stupid in the first place?  Wouldn't that be so much better?  Why is that too much to ask?

they pull the stick. and maybe the pepperspray if they cant see if the person has a knife.

Tasers hurt but are not lethal or cause permanent damage. The officer did the right thing why was that idiot even reacting so agressively against that officer hè didnt do anything yet. I hope that tazer activated some of the reflecting behaviour parts into that Idiot's brain.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

I believe it is better to get tazed than beaten up and peppersprayed tough. Can't speakers From experience tough, a tazer KO's you the alternative hurts like hell and damages your eyes.

Officers are protectors of citizens first, then people, self defense is important, but in any civil position, specifically the executive branch where officer's operate, its not as high a priority as making sure he is making the right call. That's why training exists.

Sorry but you are completely incorrect here.

Yes Police Officers are protectors. But Self-defence is ALWAYS first. Why? Because if the Policeman is knocked out or killed there will be NO one to defend you and then you will be dead or knocked out. So you better hope they defend themselves first!

I'm pretty sure that training always will state that they are to defend themselves and incapacitate someone who is threatening them first. AND RIGHTFULLY SO!

Let me tell you something that you have obviously never had to deal with in your life. There is a condition within the body called Fight or Flight. EVERYONE has it. If someone is coming at you, you will do one of 2 things you will either run away or you will fight. If you cant run away you can only fight and you WILL defend yourself physically first before "trying to talk it out" when someone AGRESSIVELY walks towards you shouting and raising their hand at you. Don't try to bend it to suit yourself.

As for the rest of you saying the Police Officer is wrong go work in his job for 1 month. You'll be shooting anything that moves towards you.

Also to the people saying Pull the Stick..... What stick the Police Officer has a Taser and a Gun and a Radio.

Go rewatch it again and see that that aggressive guy did not let up until he saw he was going to be Tasered.

really, you think this is a life-or-death situation for the officer? ridiculous

Easy to say when you aren't a United States police officer where you have a target on your head every day that you go to work.  I mean I seriously want you to think about that for a second.  Think about the job that you currently have and think about the possibility of getting shot when you are simply minding your own business. You act as if the civilain was in a life-or-death situation after he was stunned.  Ridiculous.

You then assume that the old man didn't know he was acting out of line.  The old man was walking towards the police vehicle in a threatening manner, weapon or no weapon.  It was still a threatening move no matter how you want to twist it.  A civilian in this country knows that an action displayed by the old man warrants an immediate tase from a police officer.  These are the rules that are setup here in America and people should respect these rules.

Let me do a quick comparison.  You are on these forums and you start flaming so you get banned.  You could have stated your point in a calm collective manner and avoided a ban all together.  Who do you blame?  Yourself or the moderator?  You are currently defending the stance that the moderator would be at fault.

That old man knew how he should have acted but he chose to act out of line.  So the police officer felt that a non-lethal tase was the perfect way to subdue the civilian without any injury.  You can even hear the officers immediate concern for the civilian when he asked him if he was okay.  People should be responsible for their own actions instead of blaming others.

Are we all watching the same video or are some people just high? Some old dude taking a few steps with the usual rants elderly people do before being neutral at a good distance the's also good vision of the man as well, if someone was to read the posts here you'd think it was an axe murderer jumping out the vehicle and charging like the Incredible Hulk.

The dude looked insane and aggressive. The policeman took no chances. I would've done the same if I were him.
