Forums - Sports Discussion - Ronda Rousey better retire in the next 10 years

Ronda will likely retire from combat sports within 5 years. She simply has too much going for her to overstay her MMA career. She wants to retire undefeated.

She's essentially cleaned out the 135 division with Holms being the only potential fighter who could provide any competition and she needs 2-3 more good fights before she's ready to challenge for the title.

Justino can challenge for the 135 title as soon as she can make weight, but at 135, the cut will either take too much out of her, or she will have to drop muscle in the months prior to cutting down to 135 for weigh ins.

I don't see the UFC adding a 145 woman's division, so there is a real possibility that Silva will simply run out of matches for Ronda without resorting to rematches of previous squash matches.

That said, I'm sure there are talented teenage girls training in MMA with the intention of going pro, inspired by Ronda to be the future of women's MMA, one of which could be the next prodigy to become the 135 champion. Personally, I'd look to women competing in Olympic level combat sports for that potential future champion.

Ronda has said herself that she thinks one of her greatest advantages is that women don't know just how tough she is until they get in the Octagon with her. She said in an interview that the person who has a good chance against her is Miesha Tate due to the fact that they have fought 3 times now already. Tate could be next or it may be Cyborg but it doesn't quite sound like Cyborg is going after that fight, instead taking the "I'll wait until Dana says something" approach.

Right? Personally, I don't find very much "hot" at all about women literally beating the shit out of each other.

Who said it was to get you hot?  And why would anyone, let alone Ronda or her opponent give any kind of a shit what you find attractive?   And also, look up the word literally, it does not mean, what you think it means.

Hopefully before she goes pro she can learn more Martial Arts than just boxing. A Boxer vs an MMA fighter in a UFC match isn't going to go well.

There's only 2 races: White and 'Political Agenda'
2 Genders: Male and 'Political Agenda'
2 Hairstyles for female characters: Long and 'Political Agenda'
2 Sexualities: Straight and 'Political Agenda'

She's about to be a Hollywood star.

We saw what that did to Rampage's UFC career.

Haha crazy

I don't think it's sudden.  The hype train has been going full steam for quite some time.

It definitely isn't sudden. The UFC essentially built their women's MMA market around Rousey.

It's with all the additional exposure (Sports Illustrated, the ESPYs) that the general audience is finally catching up.

Tate's already getting her third bout with Rousey. There simply isn't anyone else ready in the division.

Cat Zingano was supposed to be the legitimate threat after outstriking Tate and finishing her with a TKO, but everyone knows how the Zingano/Rousey fight turned out.

Tate's improved since her last bout with Rousey, and those changes were a direct result of her losses, but most don't favor her odds in the rematch which currently favor Rousey -1000, Tate +839. While Tate has made changes in her training to improve her game, it goes without saying that Ronda has as well and continues to pull ahead of the pack.

She did Furious 7 and The Expendables 3 in between training for bouts that all ended under one minute.

Oh for sure, completely agree but Ronda and Tate have already fought 3 times, so this will be their fourth fight against each other, granted 1 fight was in strike force.

And let's be honest, Rampages career was clearly on the downside, by the time he got into movies.
