So even if I haven't been using Firefox for the past months but have it installed on my PC I should still update it? Or can I just uninstall it?

Go to "Help", up there in the menu bar from Firefox, click on it, click on "About Firefox" and it will check on your version and tell you that you can update/you have the latest version.
