If anything I think this shows the Animal Crossing audience is largely on the handheld side by now.

I don't think even Animal Crossing on Wii debuted this high in Japan, and this is just some small spin-off title.

Also, with the big success of the Animal Crossing spin-off, I'm surprised Nintendo doesn't more cheaper casual games with their big IPs. It's about 1,000yen or so cheaper than most 3DS games, so you can get a larger amount of your target market.
