Why everyone whining about Konami now? They always made tons of spin-offs for arcade automates, mobile devices and etc.

I wonder how shocked will all of us be the 1st of April of 2016 When Konami will announce they've just done the biggest and longest April Fool of all time (all planned with Kojima of course)

...

dot dot dot

I'm baffled at all the "lol Konami has always done this, what's new? Stop whining" comments.
Gloriously missing the point

Konami never fails to live up to expectations, eh?

Dude Konami hasn't made losses since at least 2008, so can we not act as if they are financially struggling here? Also companies can and often do take out loans from banks and Konami has a decent credit rating so they are definitely not confined to their own cash reserves. Yes MGSV is expensive but do you think it won't make its money back? And do you think Konami doesn't know it will make its money back?

There would be a budget and there would be money in games made from their IPs if Konami just gave a damn.

Lol and where do you think those profits are coming from? Certainly not from the game division when Konami's operating income per year is almost the same as MGSV's budget.

Reports has already been said that Konami cancelled other titles because of MGSV. They could get those debts but interest also comes with it. Konami isn't that big of a company to leverage anything. What if those titles flopped? Then losses will rack in eventually. Reality is that. That's why they're doing pachinko business with their IPs as implied by their financial statements about utilizing their know-hows to leverage developments of other games while MGSV is constantly draining their money last year.

Since 2008 Konami has not once lost money on their gaming segment, not once. You know what segment they lost money on in 2013 and 14? Their Pachinko business.

MGS V is not Konamis problem, that game is a sure profit maker even at its current budget (especially with the currently weak Yen) and Konami is in no danger of bankruptcy in the forseeable future. And sure they could lose money if their games flopped, that's literally how this and every other business works, Konami are just seeking the easy way out.

The certain profit that MGS V is going to make could have already been used to finance other games, that's how investments work.

Konami is kinda like a girl you're seeing from time to time but who sleeps around with other guys. You don't mind because when she puts out she can be pretty good but recently she stopped sleeping with you all together and still does the other guys. Strangely some people wonder why you're pissed at her!

I always say that Konami is like a wheeless tour bus. Everybody gets on because of the promises, but then it doesn't go anywhere, and they all get off disappointed.

Now I don't have to fly to Africa to give myself Ebola. I can just watch this pitiful excuse for a Silent Hill game unravel instead. Thanks Konami.

Silent Hills was gonna e huge. There was gonna be a movie releasing alongside it starring Reedus; not sure if anyone knew that but I just learned of the companion movie recently from Farhad Mann

This is getting obnoxious. Do any of you know Konami has always had a foot pachinko/gambling business? They also have a foot in the fitness, card games, anime, arcades, clothes as well. How many of you actually know about Konami history? Leveraging THEIR popular IP's with THEIR many different sectors? What's new?

Its THEIR IP! They can do whatever they want to

You seem to like Star Ocean. What if SE decided one one day to say fuck video games and never made another Star Ocean but instead make a collectable card game for it?

??!! THEY ARE NOT FORCED TO MAKE VIDEO GAMES. THEY CAN DO WHAT THEY WANT WITH THEIR IP's.

These companies do not owe  us a damn thing. We do not have any grounds to chastise them oh any of their choices WE did not invest in money.

If I decided to make one IP my entire life that made me rich, and I decided after that Im not interested in any other game development, but instead I would like license the IP I created toys a clothes ... That is MY right, MY choice,MY IP, not yours. The sense of entitlement is gross.

Btw, there is a STAR OCEAN card game.

*sigh*

Not again...
