Offtopic I know, but have you ever seen MGS the twin snakes? you should look it up.

Yeah I know Twin Snakes. Never played that version but from what I've seen I would call it a port or since it's a upgraded version of MGS (for the Gamecube?), it could be considered a remaster. That game doesn't qualify for what you underlined in my post.

*head explodes*

I mean it has totally redone cutscenes, totally new gameplay elements, redone voice acting and music, a total graphics overhaul....and you would consider it on the same level as a game (ie: TLoU:R--basically a port) that just offers a resolution/fps bump?

lol'd at that, didn't see it before I made my first reply to it being a .... port. But yeah they even redone all of Grey Fox's voice work replaced with Rob Paulsens voice for it.... aka Pinky from Pinky and the Brain/Animaniacs. Hard to picture the Cyborg Ninja shouting Narf as he is crushed by Metal Gear Rex

Just my 2 cents on the remaster vs remake debate... I find it closer to a remake. A remaster is supposed to preserve the look of the original. The changes in lighting are very drastic, different textures and even the geometry has been altered.

Imo a remaster can enhance the resolution anf framerate. Set all the game effects, lods and what not to the max, ehance the sound, yet not alter anything beyond what the game was initially supposed to look like. At least that's where I come from with movie remasters.
(Ofcourse for a remake this would be considered pretty lazy movie wise :/)

Wow them graphics though. I'm so getting this...again! :)

Hindsight is mother. I can't believe that GeOW was ever a benchmark for "best graphics".

Great work on the Ultimate Edition, though. Good to see it isn't just a higher polygon count

Name a game from '06 that looks better.  Hell, it still looks good!

I can't. But, like I said, hindsight is a mother. It happens every generation. At some point, we think the graphics look "real" and then some time down the line, we say "we used to think this was good?". I guess what I'm saying is: we've come a long way

Gears 1 is available for BC right now!?! I gotta fire it up!

See, people? You don't know shit. You guys were like "Oh, they won't make Gears of War available because it would take away from the sales of the remake!". Don't you guys get tired of being wrong?

VGC bruh, BC was even painted as a bad feature.

It wasn't painted as a "bad feature". It was painted as "this is a great feature to have but it's not a game changer", since MS fans were overhyping the idea that being able to play 10 year old games would make someone want to buy an XBOne.

The consensus was that it's a great feature at launch, when there aren't many games out and it makes the transition to the new gen easy. But we're 2 years in. XBOne has a decent library of games. BC is just something that's "there", now. It's not bad to have more features, but keep some perspective. MS fans finally got something as a "one-up", of sorts, to the PS4, so they blew its "greatness" up sky high. Bringing them back down to earth is not saying BC is "bad". It's just bringing the effects of BC back to reality.

Actually, that video doesn't do the 360 version justice. That footage is way too bright and it makes the game look terrible. The game still looks great. I know this because I started playing it on the X1 via BC.

The thing is... BC will sell some X1 consoles. We just don't know how many.

Here's what's happening. MS fans are happy we get to play classic 360 games on our fancy new machine. Some of those games are great and worth revisiting. It will also give people an opportunity to play great games they might have missed last gen.

Sony fans on the other hand like to pretend BC is hyped more than it actually was so they can mock it for not selling a billion units. Bottom line, people are happy to have BC and there is no reason to shit on the parade.

I have numerous PS1 and PS2 games on my PS3 because on occasion I like to play great games again.

I didn't know that. It definitely isn't a port.

You are completely off-side. There were threads discrediting MS capability on emulating 7th gen games based on a Mass Effect game.

At launch or mid gen, it's useful if we're still willing to play X360 games.

Xbox fans didn't blow BC sky high, you just felt sour for the happiness and hype around the feature that was much rquested for.

And what's the reality? That we can play X360 games on X1? Isn't that the reality, all the X1 fans wanted to become realized?

Personally, I never hyped BC as a feature to throw in anybody's face. I just love BC and I use and abuse it in every console that offers it. You should see how crazy I went when I found out Wii games could play on the WiiU controller.
