Good lord! Even though it's YouTube, the leap is great. Even the fps increase is noticeable. Good job. Looking forward to co op-ing the whole trilogy, again.

Night and Day. The difference is so significant one could be excused for believing this is a remake.

SWORDF1SH said: It's a remaster, a very good remaster. I don't think we can call this a remake. Remaster = Using original assets and up grading them Remake = Game made from the ground up and stays faithful to original (imagine MGS1 on current gen consoles with current gen graphics same story/missions/etc and overhauled gameplay) Reboot = Complete new direction set within the franchise. Usually going back to the start with change of story and drastic change in gamepley. |
GoW:U has been built from the ground up, and is very faithful to the original (bar some artistic changes), so i don't see why we wouldn't consider it a remake. It is worth noting though that being "faithful" isn't a firm requirement for something to be considered a remake in the first place. The literal definition is just "to make again or differently".
OT: I'm still not keen on the artistic changes. I know there are those that think very drab colours are some kind of inherent visual flaw, but i always quite liked how the original Gears looked. It did a lot to build the atmosphere. Still, they've obviously put a fair bit of effort into it, and i'm looking forward to giving it a try. Perhaps i'll feel differently about the art changes when i'm actually playing it.
That's impressive. I remember thinking it was CGI when I first saw Gears in motion. It looks like Coalition did a good job overall.
Wow, i had no idea Gears 1 was that colourless. Looks horrible compared to the remaster which looks fantastic.
I was not going to pick this up until it went on sale, but with the news that it will come with digital versions of all 4 previous games when they become available via BC. It is getting harder to pass this up. it also helps that this is not a full price game.

Remember Gears came out when developers thought brown everything was a great idea....
