Forums - Politics Discussion - Senior woman racist rant against hispanic woman caught on video

Youtube comment:
"Old white people... lowering the collective IQs of the entire planet. One good thing I can say about that stupid white woman is that she'll be gone soon and the world will be a better place without her in it."

its not racism to be hostile towards a person that chooses to not use the native language of the country they life in...

The action isn't necessarily racist, but a lot of people who behave that way are racist.

Despite that, why is it the old lady's duty to tell other people how to be or what to do? Why be hostile at all? She has all the right to be offended, and even to offend, but that doesn't make her any less of a witch with a capital b. I wish more people just minded their business some times.

thats something totaly different. you dont have to be a rascist to be an asshole,  and yes, she is most likely a racist, but what the did there wasnt racism.

im not a big fan of calling everything racism for 2 reasons.

1st labeling something random bad as racism will only grow the number of racists. it destroys the barrier between normal assholes and racists.

2nd it makes it easyer for SJW and other stupid people to call legitime critic racism because the line gets blurry.

the UN convention is such a piece of propaganda because it mixes different things and calls em all racism.  its totaly fine to be against people because of their culture.(if your culture is giving women less worth than animals well than you are a bad person). same goes for religion.

people choose to do things that way.

how is this racist? both women are white...

I hate to break it to you but calling the wrong Latino person white will get your teeth kicked in. It doesn't matter how closely we are related genetically if our skin color doesn't match. It might not technically be racism but that has no baring on the real world. I have not encountered many Latinos who identified as white. In fact, due to his facial features and complexion I initially assumed the last one I met was black. If I called him white he would have laughed in my face.

I think everyone is being too negative to the white old lady. She comes from a different era, in which multiculcurism wasn't as accepted as it is nowadays. Hate all you want, but I think that how the white old lady, was behaving somewhat fine when taking account for her age.

Everyone acted in a childish manner, that's for sure.

I'm now filled with determination.

how is this racist?  and both partys act like stupid people. the old women says idiotic things and the young women rages hard like a insane person...

There is no difference between racism and ethnic discrimination - they are synonymous.  The old lady is obviously xenophobic.  Displaying hostility/contempt/fear/hatred for someone based on their language/culture/ethnicity is very much ethnic discrimination (aka racism).

"Racism and racial discrimination are often used to describe discrimination on an ethnic or cultural basis, independent of whether these differences are described as racial. According to the United Nations convention, there is no distinction between the terms racial discrimination and ethnic discrimination"

Also, race is nothing more than a social construct to begin with.  "Today, most biologists, anthropologists, and sociologists reject a taxonomy of races in favor of more specific and/or empirically verifiable criteria, such as geography, ethnicity, or a history of endogamy."

She's demanding that someone speak English while they are sitting with their family having dinner...  She's not asking them to speak English so that she can communicate with them (that would be an entirely different scenerio).

Being hostile to someone for no other reason than them using a different language is very much racist.  The motivation behind it was nothing more than they were different people from a different place.

no she isnt, the video doesnt starts when the interaction starts...

there is a difference between citizen that speak a foreign language and foreign people that speak their own native language.

and yes, people that refuse to speak the official language of their home country are different, and beeing hostile to them is right, they refuse to be a real part of society because they refuse to speak the common language.

There's actually people defending the old racist white lady? Smh, I've never in my life thought to tell someone "speak english." Why the hell would someone be worried about what language someone else speaks?

This is the problem with racist people, they're so worried about everybody else but themselves. I pray one day we can just have one state where we can put all racist people and have them secede from america and then the rest of society who wants to move forward can enjoy life like it's mean to be.

Do you know what their citizenship status is?  Did this lady know their citizenship status before she accosted them?

The US doesn't have an official language.

There are situations where asking someone to speak English would be appropriate.  However, demanding that someone 'speak English or go back to Spain' is absolutely racism.  It's rooted in xenophobia, not the desire for communication.  People have every right to be different than the majority without harassment.  I'm sorry if you can't see that.

What the lady did was wrong but she's old and old people do weird things sometimes. He shouldn't have videotaped her, he should've just told her off and left.
