Forums - Politics Discussion - [True Story?] Cecil lion's brother is also illegally killed in Zimbabwe

Jericho was killed by hunters operating illegally there in Zimbabwe.

Jericho was considered to be caring for and defending Cecil's cubs, but the survivability of those cubs wasn't immediately clear in the aftermath of Jericho's death.

Some of the cubs may have been Jericho's, said David Macdonald, director of Oxford's Wildlife Conservation Research Unit, who has been studying Cecil.

EDIT: Some say Jericho is still alive and this story has not been corroborated.

Apparently the news of Jericho's murder were spread by a Zimbabwean conservation organization which were then spread by Western news and spread like fire in Twitter.

"He looks alive and well to me as far as I can tell," said Brent Stapelkamp, field researcher for the Hwange Lion Research Project which is monitoring the lion with a GPS tag.

Damn, being a lion in Africa is almost as dangerous as being black in the US.

@Burek - Lions, the Afro-americans of Africa.

Do you really care about a stupid ass lion that much? We have much more important issues.

Money can't buy happiness. Just video games, which make me happy.

And things were already bad enough...

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Really?Illegal hunting isnt that important then?

It would be the same as someone got in the NY zoo(for example) and killed animals there.Im not against hunting, but this passes the limits.

And how are you and me neglicting those "important issues" by just taking some time commenting on this news going on? What are you doing to help those issues?

And yet here you are commenting in this thread.

In the realm of things? Yea, not that important. As a hunter myself, poaching is really a minimal problem compared to some of the horrible things happening in this world. By no means do I support it, but it just isn't as big of an issue as they are making it out to be.

Because thats how headline news works. It gets people to ignore other issues. All people are worried about and talking about right now is a single animal. Meanwhile, this causes people to donate money, etc to causes that prevent this, instead of to more important things, like kids who never get the opportunity for a good learning experience, or women getting raped way too often.

I am agree with u, but i think you should make a new thread that discuss which one is important, because it's clearly it will make the discussion far from the topic.

At OP , yeah the situation in Zimbabwe is very worst for animal , but the country it self have another problem beside killing protected animal. That's why it's just another problem resulted from other problem.
