I don't really follow the Falcons that closely, but I feel like Mike Smith got a bad rap.  He was too conservative as a coach, but so are most NFL head coaches.  They had been pretty good in the fourth quarter with him as coach before, especially 2012.

From 2008 to 2012, Mike Smith had them at a 56 - 24 regular season record.  That is damn good.  Two losing seasons in a row plus that awful 1 - 4 playoff record made him an easy scapegoat.

Yeah. While I'm not sure Smith could ever have gotten them over the top, I do think the hate was unwarranted. He took the Falcons further than they've gone in recent memory, and I'm not certain anyone but a savant could have squeezed more talent from that roster than he managed to do.

Denver could be scary, assuming the spaghetti noodle that is Peyton Manning's arm doesn't completely unravel like it did last season. I'm still not sold on them, though. Perhaps it's just seeing Peyton Manning fall apart in so many pressure situations.

I think their year was the one they lost that close game to the 49ers.  Then the window closed on that roster, and they had to rebuild.  Tough break.

His arm was fine last season. It was his quad injury that messed things up.

Yeah, it was a quad injury. This is common knowledge. Happened in the second San Diego game. The one right before the game that gif is from.

106 QB rating, 67% completion before the injury.
72 QB rating, 59% completion after injury, including playoffs.

Not sure if you're trolling or just don't know football but you're welcome ;)

I never claimed his quad wasn't injured, or that his arm was injured. Just that his arm unraveled like a spaghetti noodle. He made some pretty terrible throws that you couldn't even have excused on a leg injury if his entire fibula had exploded.

So then don't know football is the answer. Ok, that's fine.

You need to use your legs to throw a football at any level, let alone professional, and let alone Peyton Manning standards. He was unable to move well or plant with his leg and the results are what we all saw on the field from that game onward. His arm was perfectly fine. His leg was not and it affected every aspect of his throwing the football.

Or hey maybe you know more than doctors/NFL experts/Peypey himself, idk :)

Ludicrous, he's got a better record than you in the pick 'em so I'd say he knows a little about football, probably just doesn't worship Peyton Manning as it seems you may. I think you are giving Peyton a little more credit than he deserves considering his slow and poor start to this season. Snapping under center too much or not, he's an 18 year vet and should be able to throw from anywhere back there, and read the defense from anywhere. To me, he really doesn't have it any more and just throws the ball up for grabs, allowing his receivers to do the hard work. When he throws across the middle he ALWAYS leads his receiver into a potential career ending hit, too. He needs to be able to throw with velocity to make all of the NFL throws he needs to, and he really can't any more
