ANNOUNCEMENT - Week 3 Results and Standings
The prediction league has put the horror of week 2 behind it, and it did so with amazing results. 26 players went 10-6 (.625) or better in week 3. Thanks to a Wisconsin defense that looked like swiss cheese towards the end, six people were perfect on MNF: amp316, dongo8, MTZehvor, ReimTime, Mike321, BlowoverKing.
Since big shifts in position are common this early in the season, I won't point out anything specific. We now have only four people left who have achieved a top 3 finish in each week of the season (down from eight). On the flipside, there are also only four active players left who have yet to manage a top 3 finish (also down from eight). castor and dongo8 have performed in an impressive manner so far; not only are they the first persons to attain double digit PPs, but they've also created a bit of separation between themselves and the bulk.

This wraps up the month of September which had only three weeks of football. Week 4 starts the bye weeks with the Patriots and Titans taking a break from the action, plus the first game of the International Series is on. This results in a long football Sunday which should make everyone feel like a child who just got told by his parents that they will go to Disneyland. Of course, the catch is that you won't actually enter Disneyland once you are there, because the parents (the NFL) are playing a prank on you. Who the hell wants to watch Jets vs. Dolphins?
A few words directed at LudicrousSpeed that should also serve as a warning/reminder to everyone else:
Don't edit your posts. Don't do it. Maybe one day I'll just to decide not to care to look through previous pages on Sunday or deliberately ignore your picks out of spite. The rules exist for good reason.
Lastly, let's talk about the playoffs in the prediction league. As you may have noticed, the standings show two red lines now. These people have been officially eliminated from playoff contention. They are still allowed to post picks for the regular season, but no matter how well they do (even if they win the regular season against all odds), they won't be able to enter the playoffs because 230+ picks must have been made by the end of the season in order to be eligible. Of course, this is all just theory because those two people have given up and will not return.
Furthermore, you may or may not know that in addition to the prestigious playoffs for the best 16 players of the regular season (bracket A), there will also be a separate playoff contest for the people who made 230+ picks, but didn't finish among the top 16 (bracket B). This separate contest was initially planned for 16 players as well, but with only 30 active players left in the prediction league this year, that's not possible anymore. Therefore the number of playoff spots has to be decreased and that always happens in even reductions. So that means 14 spots are left. The implication here is that making picks until the end does not necessarily guarantee a playoff spot. Let's suppose that Burek does not return for week 4, then I'll have to reduce bracket B to 12 spots and this in turn means that the player who is ranked 29th won't be able to join the playoff round. The bottom line is that even if you are doing really bad, you should avoid being in last place of the active players because you never know if an unfavorable number of players throws in the towel before the regular season is over.
Sweet another PR! Bad weekend for me as a fan though. I'm just like Steve Smith. Although I do root for the Panthers as well but these 0-3 Ravens are killing me!
I will laugh if Jacksonville defeats Indy since think that it's actually a possibility.

At least you get to say that figuratively!
