With Dragon Quest 11 still being a popular topic I thought I might as well make a thread about my fave series while it's still relevant to the forums XD Anyway, I always see fave Final Fantasy or fave Zelda games but never this niche title... for obvious reasons. 

For me, my favorite Dragon Quest game is a tie between Dragon Quest 8 and 6. 8 was my introduction to the series and it blew me away. It was everything I had always looked for in a game. There was something really special about playing it for the first time.The music, graphics, gameplay, atmosphere, everything was perfect to me.

For those who have played 6, it's not very popular. But I loved it, the characters and the music and the story were awesome to me :3 

Anyway, I'm not sure how long this thread will last -if at all (not too many DQ fans on VGCz sadly ;-;) but what is your favorite Dragon Quest game?

Dragon Warrior 3 (NES), still love it to this day. Followed up by good old Dragon Warrior (Also NES).

DW3 is the only DQ I've yet to really play. But I know it's a fan favorite in Japan. I wanna beat DW1 and 2 before I do that one XD

I have never played a game of this franchise, I want to start with DQVII o DQVIII

I'd recommend 8 out of the 2 of those. 7 is alright, but definitely has a completely different feeling from the rest of the franchise. 8 will prepare you for the other DQ games if you end up playing the others later on.

I feel like this'll be the majority of responses XD not that that's a bad thing. We only have like maybe 5 hardcore DQ fans on this site XD plan on trying the series or no?

VIII is magnificent. Truly the best in the series, in my humble opinion. V is a pretty close second though. It has a good story, the monster recruiting feels easy and fun, and you get to pick a wife.

I ended up picking Bianca both times I played the game. I almost went with Nera before, but considered that magic usually isn't very well balanced in the DQ games. As for Debra, I may go with her next time I play for the comedic value.
