I never needed bringing back as I always was mature enough to not be insecure about enjoying "immature" games.

IGN became a dad? :o

A touching story indeed, but im 18 and i still think all Nintendo games are awsome, even the very childish ones. Theres nothing wrong with childishness, i still pick up my old lego sets and build them, i dont really play with them anymore but sometimes maybe i pretend xD if i ever get a kid, wich im not really thinking about now because im only 18, then i would make him grow up with the NES, SNES, and the old ones first and then slowly get into the newer ones. Then he will appreciate how good the classics are.

If the game was mechanically balanced with a difficulty curve or has some sort of complexity, then even core gamers can enjoy it regardless of how it looks. However personally I prefer games that provide context to what I'm doing, and these types of games are usually lacking in that department. That's why my experience with Zelda games, for an example, is more memorable than my experience my mario games.

If you can find context to what you do in a CoD game, then I am glad I dont know you.

I did, sadly. When I was 14 I stopped playing Nintendo games for 3 years as I didn't want my friends to see my playing childish games. Then I turned 17, stopped giving a shit what other people think and have never looked back. Oh except last gen. I thought the Wii and DS were both kinda shit.

I had some great friends and we had so much fun playing N64 when we were 18. But then again, in Germany any kind of video games is seen as immature and evil, so it was not like you were a cool cat if you played PS1...

Reading this gave me shivers of anguish. That's why I will never have children or a girlfriend, it kills you as a gamer.

Nice story.

Of course, I personally have, and probably will always love Nintendo for the rest of my gaming life.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

You're joking right?

Why should I be? The author himself says he doesn't want/have to time to invest himself in video games anymore.

I never totally went from Nintendo as I always had their handhelds but the Wii U was my first home console since the n64.

I've typically been more of a PC gamer over the past 15 years and I appreciate the different direction Nintendo heads to the rest of the industry.

Yes, high profile games don't need deep plots, lengthy cut-scenes, or heavily scripted set pieces crammed into every game. Nintendo games are often (Or at least at their best) gameplay focused with engaging exploration.
