Forums - Movies & TV - Sony Pictures having the worse year in 9 years!

So, Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 is the #1 Sony Pictures movie this year.  Usually Sony makes over a Billion Dollars and is 10-15% of the USA market share.  This year they are only at 3.6% and only have on more major release this year, the James Bond Spectre.

So yes, even after the box office bomb of last year, After Earth, they are doing worse than 2014.

Most of the blame is being shed on the CEO and the Studio producers for messing up things like Spiderman 3 and other movies.

Do you think the blame is more on the Studio Execs, the Marketing, or something else?

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Not going to go into quality of The Amazing Spider Man movies, but really strange that they canned it when both moives are in the top 20 highest grossing films Sony has ever made.

Apparantly they want Avengers numbers or something?

is "the worse" as superlativ really a thing in english?

I thought it was: bad, worse, the worst

yea, I've seen native english speakers use "the worse" as superlativ a lot lately so I was becoming a bit unsure

that said I also see "I could care less" a lot, which makes little sense to me - if you really want to say "I don't give a shit" it should be "I couldn't care less", right?

well, I'll stop derailing the thread here

Well, the Sam Raimi movies did better.  And looking at how Amazing Spider-Man 1&2 performed compared to them, and how the 2nd performed compared to the 1st, the franchise was heading in the wrong direction.  Now, they have a deal with Marvel Studios, which will have more imput into the movies, which should see them making better, more faithful movies.  Marvel has been able to make huge sucesses out of very little known characters, so it will be interesting to see how the next Spider-Man does.  I definitely prefer the new Peter Parker.

@ OP

You act as if the James Bond movie will do little to rectify their situation.  If it performs like Skyfall did, they'll be fine.

What? Spiderman 3 was fucking awesome!

- Max Payne 3

Spectre will do huge numbers but their big problem is that they greenlight low-budget, low-return movies.

Why the exclamation point at the end of the threat title? Are this happy news for you?

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:
