I would have been happy with a completely redone carbon copy. However, I am not opposed to them making minor tweaks. Just not too much, it was already pretty freakin solid as it is.

Seriously, the combat definitely doesn't need a dramatic change.  If they wanted to tweak things here and there, that's fine... But it sounds like they are going to completely change it...

I could care less about changes to something like the OST, but changing a main element in gameplay makes no sense.

Well, they change the gameplay drastically from nearly every entry to the next, so why would people even expect this to be otherwise? It's a remake of the game, not just the same game with prettier graphics, hence FF VII Remake.

That's the problem with messing with what many consider one of their favorite games... It becomes a touchy subject...
