Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Seriously, why is King K. Rool NOT in Smash as his own character??

I knew who Pit was before Brawl. I was legitimately hyped for him being in there.

Congrats, you are one of the few, the proud, the marines.

But seriously, Rool's never been in Smash yet everyone wants him in there, and we all already know who he is.  Who hasn't played Donkey Kong Country?

Not saying I don't want Rool in there, in fact he was the only one I voted in the ballot. But discrediting other characters for his sake really isn't my thing.

Those "Instead we get" characters are A LOT easier to make than a completely unique character like K. Rool.

Lucina and Dark Pit were added literally last minute just as fanservice as the team had extra time. Lucas and Roy were mostly ported from their respective past games (with Roy having a bit of a different moveset to boot, but not that much), meaning less effort was put into them as opposed to an entirely new character.

Besides, why should K. Rool be in the game when other, more iconic characters like Slippy, Tails, Micaiah (that is if people don't mind too much fire emblem reps), Kamek, Dixie, Zero, and loads others should be in the game?

Yeah exactly. All of the clones took a fraction of the work of a new character. Like stated before, they didn't make it in the game over anyone else. They put them in the game because it was easy to reskin an existing character and make very minor minor tweaks.

Dude you do realize that those are excuses that the devs put forth after the backlash that fans had to the weak rooster peppered with some clones??  Sakurai knew the rooster was incomplete and lackluster so the clones were the only things they could do to make it "seem" complete.  That is just straight laziness on their part, and you can't be serious to think that they didn't have to reach a quota they could comfortably advertise?   Instead of saying "Yeah we removed a few characters for no good reason, and added some clones to fill the rest"...

Why is everyone so forgiving of Nintendo?

Sounds like you just don't quite get that people have different opinions than you.  K. Rool is kind of a sucky generic villain.

I agree that they didn't take effort, but you are blind if you think they didn't have to reach a character quota of fighters in the game.  They used the clones because they didn't have the creativity, manpower or time to make 3-4 completely new fighters

Same for Bowser, Gannondorf and Wolf.   At least Rool has an original design and had a lot of attacks in DK:C.  This isn't a matter of opinion, it's a matter of populous, and the populous wanted Rool in the game, but he isn't.  Instead the characters that no one gives a fuck about are in the game in mass numbers, and clones that no one also gives a fuck about

You think Nintendo villains aren't generic and basic?

Smash bros 4 has one of the most if not the most characters in a fighting game, its now extending over 50 characters and more with DLC coming, They have fan faves like Mega Man, pacman, and suprise characters like shulk, duck hunt, bowser JR wich and villager to just name a few wich all burst with creativity. If you are saying SAkurai and his team didnt put the most effort in this then you dont know what you are saying. I also want King K rool in smash, Lucina , dark pit and DR mario didnt eliminate any other spots for any characters. They added them extra fanservice. Sakurai is not a man who makes half finished games. The character roster is the best we ever had no questions asked.
