Forums - Nintendo Discussion - What Wii U games will be ported over to NX as definitive editions.

The only one I see them porting is Zelda as a launch game for NX.

If Nintendo were to just port a lot of the games then I think there would be people out there that would look at the NX and think "Why would I buy this if it won't offer any new games to me". I know it's dumb to think that but there are people out there that probably would think that.

Plus if the rumors of Diddy Kong Racing are true then Nintendo will already have a kart racer ready for NX launch.

Also I think if there were to be a Pikmin game on NX I feel like Nintendo would just make Pikmin 4 since the last one released in 2013.

Not sure they'll actually do this. But I guess your prime candidates would be games that don't use the gamepad much. So maybe Xenoblade, Mario Kart, Smash Bros.

This really isn't something Nintendo has done that often in the past. They usually don't remaster games until a very significant amount of time has passed, and even then they don't do it that often.

Everything worth anything.

I'm now filled with determination.

I see no point in Mario Kart 8 getting ported to NX, the series typically releases every 3 years.

DS-2005
Wii-2008
3DS-2011
Wii U-2014
NX-2017???

It's not unbelievable that Mario Kart 9 will be a first year title for NX.

As your list shows, they alternate between handheld and home consoles, so if NX is just a home console it wouldn't see a Mario Kart game until 2020 unless they change that pattern. Mario Kart 9 on the newest handheld in 2017, Mario Kart 8 definitive edition on NX along it and Mario Kart NX in 2020 seems fair to me.

I'm a strong believer that NX will be a family of devices that share the same architecture/operating system/online infrastructure/account system where most games will be available on all devices.

Not a single one, not even Zelda Wii U, im calling it right now. And when it turns out im right i need an applause ^_^

I don't see Nintendo doing opportunistic remasters like Mario Kart 8 and SMash Bros, those games will have replacements within the NX's 1st 2 years. Considering both teams had to previous develop 2 seperate titles for handheld and console I think we'll probably see Smash 5 and Mario Kart 9 even sooner then that. At least 1 might be a launch window title.

Difference with single player, campaign based games like Zelda is that sequels are in no way replacements so its important they make previous entries available to current consumers.

To answer the question though, assuming NX isn't backwards compatible:

-Xenoblade X remaster
-Pikmin trilogy
-Mario Collection (including 3D world)
-Pokken

I think the campaign from Splatoon 1 will come with Splatoon 2, which I think we'll see in 2017.

They never did that in the past so I don't think they will do it now. Obviously they can change, but there's nothing that indicates the contrary. Maybe they will release ZeldaU/NX, that's the only thing I see possible right now.

Zero ...

They will make new games unless they want to disappoint the market once more ...

It's clear that for EVERY generation, the top selling games on the top platforms are brand new games and I doubt Nintendo will be remastering WII games ...

As for Zelda U, I already think it's in development for the NX ...

DKC Returns & Xenoblade were ported over just a few years after their initial release. Also many people thought Nintendo would never jump on the DLC or Mobile bandwagons but now they are embracing both pretty strongly so seeing how successful remasters of few year old games have been on PS4/XBO may cause Nintendo to jump aboard as well especially for games that underperformed due to the small Wii U user base.
