Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Microsoft knew fans would steal their glasses

Microsoft had an Xbox event recently and brought custom glasses for the visitors to drink from, and from the look of it, they really wouldn't mind if you stole one. All of them are decorated with the text: "I stole this from an Xbox One event"

One of the people who obviously did just that and stole a glass is Ray Versus, who also posted proof on Twitter with the picture below and this text: "Indeed I did. @jeffrubenstein @blainh @majornelson @aarongreenberg"

Of course, this is common practice at events and hotels alike. We're not sure if it has ever stopped a would be thief or as in this case it only encourages them.

Lol, I think I would only want to steal it even more if it said something like that xD

If they didn't have Xbox One branding on it, it wouldn't get stolen... so why did they put Xbox One branding on it to begin with?

Adding the 'I stole it' bit just makes people want to steal it.

Hmm, pie.

That's a permission slip if I've ever seen one.

I wouldn't steal it. First off all since I've got other glasses at home and second it would make me feel dirty .

Don't worry, just once through a dishwasher and clean again.

Why brand something if it's not supposed to be stolen?

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Clearly the "I stole this" is just a clever way of saying "I was given this glass". I can dig it.

I like it. Thieves would be a little embarrassed if someone saw them with that.

Because you get attention with that.
