Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Do you think NX will be below, equal, or above the power of PS4?

How will NX fare in comparison to the PS4?

Below in power 297 32.21%

Equal power 99 10.74%

More powerful 108 11.71%

Very weak in comparison to PS4 67 7.27%

A little weaker 128 13.88%

Very powerful in comparison to PS4 30 3.25%

A little more powerful 106 11.50%

Like 2 WiiUs duct taped together 87 9.44%

Total:922

I will say equal, and by equal i mean around it like the XOne, nor exactly at the same level.

hopefully above and with a lot of third party support, just because I wanna see the reactions and new excuses to not buy a Nintendo console.

people not wanting one is a legitimate "excuse".

I think it going to be equel.

Send a Friend Request On PSN :P

Below.... Nintendo dont want the horse power or the price.

They wont work to get 3rd party onboard and prefer to live off of their own software sales, as a gameing developer that just happends to also sell hardware, rather than console developer that lives off makeing the hardware, and depends on 3rd party sales & services for profits.

Nintendo have become a secondary owned console by many, a high price for their console could hurt sales alot.

BTW why is the "Like 2 WiiUs duct taped together" option below a "little more powerfull (than the ps4)" option ?

2 Duct taped together Wii Us in performance would still be way below a PS4.

Seeing as how it'll be released +3yrs after PS4/XB1 it 'should' be more powerful, but knowing Nintendo it'll probably be less than.

And for how much, in the case of below and above the power of PS4? You can use gesstimations, just to provide an idea of what you believe the console's power will be.

Better to ask this before the console is revealed (though it seems that Nintendo consoles tend to take some sweet time before fans get down all the console specifications, so maybe no rush but anyways).

How do you think NX will fare in comparison to the PS4? Will it be below, equal or above the power of the PS4, after all the console components are exposed and the differences weighted upon?

Anyways, what do you think?

If it's a core console, then I think it will definitely be at least marginally more capable than PS4.

For one thing AMD has the next evolution over the Jaguar CPU used in PS4 and XBox One, it's called Puma and it can run at about 40% faster within the same level of power consumption, on the same 28nm process.

I'm pretty sure AMD have made a bunch of improvements to their 28nm tech since PS4 and XB1 released, which Nintendo can benefit from. Rough guesstimates NX could easily have a 40% faster CPU and GPU, with either full HBM (capable of up to 1TB/s of bandwidth), perhaps a combo of HBM and DDR4 or all GDDR5 like PS4, but with a bigger bus like 384BIT or even 512BIT, it all depends on what NX demands.

Nintendo could easily have a 2.5TFlop GPU, 40% faster CPU than PS4/XB1 (depending on clock speed), all for $250, if they decide to go with a standard controller and their system would probably be smaller than PS4 as well.

Should include the option, very powerful. PS4.5, Essentially the Dreamcast (NX) to the N64 (PS4)

For a 9th gen console, it better not have 7th gen power..

Some of the important guys have already talked about things like Wii U being 'to expensive' and NX should be 'affordable' etc.

So i'm going with below PS4, cheap and some 'innovative interface' BS.

Nintendo games would be gorgeous at a level of power similar to the PS4. THe thing is, there is no way to know right now. I think anyone would like for the system to be powerful, not necessarily like a mid-to-high-range pc, but it would be nice if it were at least as powerful as the PS4.

I think there are several other factors that are very important, such as a better account-based system for downloads, better online capabilities, better hardware for third parties, etc.
