Forums - Gaming Discussion - Possibility for MH5 Ps4?

Well CAPCOM did say they wanted to shift tyo ps4 development recently.

This would demand a revamp on all the polygon models that they have been using since PS2, so, no.

"Hardware design isn’t about making the most powerful thing you can.
Today most hardware design is left to other companies, but when you make hardware without taking into account the needs of the eventual software developers, you end up with bloated hardware full of pointless excess. From the outset one must consider design from both a hardware and software perspective."

No i don't think so Dragon quest was popular on Playstation 2 but not Monster hunter

But Ps2 had big install base butno monster sold over 1 million on it.Monster hunter is simply not popular on home consoles compared to handheld.

I meant to the install base of the 3DS. Everything else is untested with a smaller install base to start with. If 3DS gets replaced this is different, as the new device will have to build install base anew.

I mean even if ps4 had the same install base as 3DS it won't sell near to Monster hunter on 3DS

That's what I mean with untested. Capcom doesn't know, while sales of MH-franchise on 3DS are tested and they are good.

my greatest games: 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023

10 years greatest game event!

Ps4 will has the same type of userbase as PS3 and PS2 so Monster hunter on ps4 will do similarly to ps3 and ps2 monster hunter games

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

It's a toss up.

On one hand, Capcom only supports the clear winner, and right now that's definitely the PS4.

On the other, they aim for PS2 graphics to avoid actually upgrading their game, which makes 3DS the right choice.

The clear winner is definitely the 3DS. Especially in Japan. That may have changed in a few years, but somehow I doubt that for Japan. So all points to 3DS.

Monster Hunter PS4, I think I was caught by Chobel in January when I posted it, and edited it. But it's been leaked from the looks of it anyway. That's your upcoming MH PS4 game. However, it's not the only one. SCEJ/A has been discussing with Capcom about bringing more Monster Hunter to PS4 for a while, and for the most part, the only thing I can say is things are looking pretty good on that front. Please be excited. Although, check your expectations a little if you're expecting some massive effort. We're just fitting in what exists, rather than trying to create something new.

PS. His leaks have proved to be true numerous times so please don't waste time with "Verendus is a fake insider" posts

Except Monster Hunter stopped being a failure outside of Japan and the rest of the world has caught on to how awesome it is, meaning that Capcom will now take that into consideration. They want money, regardless of where they get it, so a PS4 MH could easily happen.

That seems to dispute MH5 PS4 rather than perpetuate it."We're just fitting in what exists, rather than trying to create something new."

Would be nice.
And people need to understand it's time to move on, if the biggest install base was always what attracted the game them we would never have new gens, or they would need to sell on hype only until it by miracle it has a bigger install base to get the games, we would still be getting PS2 exclusives today. It's not how it should work.
It's past time to focus on the new gen.

However as long as the series doesn't saturate on 3DS they can keep developing for 3DS rather than PS4. And by the time an upgrade is necessary, the successor to 3DS will have released.
