Forums - Gaming Discussion - Fallout 4 basically done before announcement, Devs on bug-fixing mode

In an interview with GameSpot Peter Hines said:

"Let's be honest, [right now] it doesn't matter what anybody wants for a feature in Fallout 4," Hines said. "The game is basically done. It was by and large done before we announced it, in terms of the features going in. You're not adding new features in May, June, July in the year you're releasing; you're trying to get everything fixed."

“Not to over-exaggerate, but the game is essentially done. When you talk about what else you are doing, all we’re doing is taking what exists and polishing it and fixing bugs. It’s not like you work until November 9 and then November 10 it’s out. You have to make discs and do this other stuff. They are finishing the game. That’s all they’re doing this summer.”

There is something about Bethesda saying they are focusing on fixing bugs that makes me laugh. But who knows, there is always chance to learn a lesson and demonstrate change.

Are they fixing Fallout 4's bugs in the same way they fixed Skyrim's bugs?

Oh no bugs and endless amounts patches are a part of the charm of Bethesda games :(

Tbh considering the amount of patches Bethesda released for their Gen 7 games, I think we should expect 7-10 GB patches every 2 weeks. But their games are so awesome you can't skip them :P

Since when did Bethseda bug fix their games?

At least we could say something positive about what Bethesda appears to have done with F4: announce a game after it was almost complete. I think that was a nice approach to a game announcement by revealing the game relatively close to release.

But of course this is Bethesda we are talking about so we will make judgement on how "done" that game actually was after we actually play it.

Well, it'll probably have some bugs, but a somewhat stable Fallout 4 is all I need.

Well, I abandoned Skyrim because of its bugs, so I have little confidence in Bethesda in this regard...

Cool, expect only 300 instead of 3000 then. :)

Hmm, pie.

Cant wait to play the PS4 version with its memory leaks that will break my game after 20 hrs on the same save. Or having to wait a year for them to release the DLC coz they can't get it to work. Skyrim ps3 was the biggest pile of wank these guys have created, if this game has the same problems then these guys are purposely gimping the playstation version /angry Bethesda playstation fan.

The problem is Skyrim was chosen by reviewers and gamers as one of the best games of that year and it sold like hotcakes, when it worked like shit. If we don't care, they will not care. I'm expecting another buggy title, again.
