So do I, but I expect it to be down in the holiday quarter. Unless Ninty specifically said they expected it to be up in the 3rd (holiday) quarter?

I think you shouldn't,think of it dear, there will be many deals with New 3ds/xl(especially in the USA),let's not forget that it's not being bought just from late adopters but also for already old 3ds/3dxl owners, and the discounts will be very beneficial, they can persuade more old 3ds/xl owners to upgrade!Keep in mind that they haven't ruled out the possibility of New 3ds release in the Americas, and holidays would be a great time to release it...

Do you think that 3DS won't have massive weeks on holidays in Japan?I think New 3ds/xl will have an effect, okay it will be down yoy weekly but not terribly...

Last holiday quarter in Japan, the 3DS got:

SSB 3DS (released in september)

N3DS

MH4G

Pokémon ORAS

YW 2.5

This holiday quarter in Japan, the 3DS has

YW 3

Monster Hunter Spinoff

Dragon Quest VII remake.

With the exception of YW3, none of those are even comparable to mainline Monster Hunter or Pokémon.

Screwing your previous consumers pays off I guess.

It still suprises me that Sony never managed to look at how Nintendo does hardware revisions and capitalise of that.

Meaningful improvements as opposed to downgrades.

If they'd made more of those Majora's Mask 3ds xl's I'd have made the switch... As things stand I continue to wait for the prices on eBay to fall further.

As always, nintendo refuses to let me give them money. Great business model.

Power of New 3DS!

I dunno man, their strategy worked pretty well in the PS1 and PS2 days. In the PS3 days too, for that matter (except they lost so much on the PS3 )

BTW, you mean hardware revisions, right?

lol, yeah. Corrected it now :)

PS3 was a bit messy with taking out BC but I guess I'm talking about their handhelds.

PSP revisions had issues with  the screen and didn't really improve upon the hardware or design much, just made it slimmer and actually reduced the size of the screen in later revisions. PSP Go was good design wise but the removal of cartridges was insanely stupid considering half the PSP library wasn't even available to download at the time and from launch digital wasn't an initiative so peoples games catelogues were 95% physical media.

PSVita 2000 is also simply a downgrade and did nothing for sales.

2.66M for a system that had a new version isn't a lot.

i didn't expect nothing of less from You, Lawlight.

I guess the "new" naming theme actually helped boost the sales
