I feel like it looks now like the other video players from other websites, some websites I can't remember.

It now has a Theater Mode option that allows you to strech the video horizontally some more, without going full screen.

Well I have been seeing the same old player for all those months. Perhaps it was updated in some country/countries and not on others.

I am not sure if I recall correctly but I'd swear I saw this player implemented some time ago but then vanished and returned to the old one. These is the capture:

See I'm using Chrome. 

I'm guessing Google took priority in updating Youtube for its own browser 1st. Because the theater mode has been there a while.
