Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo NX more and more looks like 2016. thing

Not even 3 full years into WiiU and games for its successor already announced.

That's not actually true.

Nintendo announced that the codename for their next platform (and we don't actually know, yet, that it's a console rather than a handheld) is NX. It's not the final name, and we literally know nothing more about it. There's a lot of speculation, but the only thing we actually know is that "NX" is the codename for Nintendo's next gaming platform.

We already know that the next Sony console will be the Playstation 5. Meaning, we know more about Sony's next system than Nintendo's.

(EDITED - I said "Playstation 4" by mistake)

Well you certainly don't know Sony's next console's name lol.

Who cares when a console is announced.

Project: Reality (aka: the N64) was announced in 1993, the Super NES was barely *two years* old at the time.

Did we cry about it? No. Stop acting like a baby. If you want a console that's supported for 5 years from end to end, then wait a year and see if it's financially successful. And only buy the system's that are successful in the first year. That's the only way to really know.

Or you can just be a normal person and enjoy the games that do come and stop worrying about a freaking predisposed time limit you've built up in your head that a "successful" console has to be.

That would be a really fast reveal-to-release. I still think 2017... I suppose Xmas of 2016 isn't out of the question though.

They should reveal it the year of release, of the sales of the Wii U will be dead for a while during the wait for it.

If it does release in 2016, and is not significantly more powerful than the PS4, consider it DOA. Not only are they going to lose some of their fan base after releasing only 4 years after the Wii U, which also meant moving 1 1/2 years or so worth of Wii U games over to it, but the core market is mostly going to ignore it. Especially when they'll be able to get a PS4 (which has all those great games coming out next year) for just $299.

You think same like Microsoft lose some of their fan base with releasing Xbox 360 only 4 years after original Xbox!? Also Nintendo consoles usualy have life span around 5 years, so 1 year less isn't big deal.

Nintendo said that with NX they want affordable console with a brand new concept, so they do not plan to compete directly with PS4/XboxOne, something similar like Wii didnt directly compete with Xbox360/PS3.

So it's little too premature calling it DOA.

For Nintendo to even compete with PS4 and xbone it would have to be presented as a much more mature product.. Appealing to adults without children. So no point even bothering with a decent spec unless the product itself is correctly styled and marketed for an adult audience.
