Yeah cause screw consumer choice. God damn it MS.

Although there are quite a few implications because of this, many people better don't get a choice because they think they can manage their computer but they don't.

Those who don't, can leave auto updates ON by default. Those who can, should get the option to manually update their PCs.

Wait, so it does it whenever it feels like with Windows 10?

I have automatic updates on at the moment (W7) but they only install when I turn the computer on/off. They won't interrupt me while I'm in the middle of anything and restart the computer or anything like that. Is that going to start happening with Windows 10?

I don't it will restart your PC, no. I am just assuming here, but it wouldn't be a wise thing to allow that kind of thing to happen to windows users.

And how would you know if you are the person who can? One big part of the problem to me is that too many people think they can while they can't. And what is the reason you won't install updates? Do you want to check the code first and then judge "oh yes, that's a good fix for the buggy software. I can install this update".

Already changed..

SMH. This isn't an ideal solution. Just give us what PRO users will have.

How is this not ideal?   Most users DON'T even know how updates work.. So those people will get the auto updates.. Those who care can do this..  and WILL do this..   whats the problem?

Also.. the OP needs to fix original post.. as people are thinking the title is TRUE>. Which it is not...

You haven't used windows enough If you think installing driver updates is always the smartest thing to do. I can't believe you are that naive, so I won't pointlessly explain further.

Naive? Tone down. Driver updates? These usually are done manually. Also you don't have to use it, as another poster already said.

And no, I am not naive but working in IT and IT security for quite a long time and the majority of people don't know anything about computers, operating systems and generally anything they think they know of. And yes, I have used Windows since a very, very long time now.

You can't explain to me anything in this context, right, so it's good you don't even try.

Wait, so it has the potential to just randomly restart my PC while I'm working? That's what matters IMO. I don't care about anything else.

"You may delay the restart of the system but you cannot delay the updates to be installed." It's in the OP, "hidden" in a link.

This KB 3073930 tool for Windows 10 Insiders/beta-testers can only be used AFTER a problematic update has been downloaded and installed, ie not before.

http://www.infoworld.com/article/2951214/microsoft-windows/on-the-road-to-windows-10-problems-with-forced-updates-and-kb-3073930.html

The title is true.

Also, to those who are defending this with the sloppy tool MS is offering, What happened to the importance of making interacting with my PC easy and intuitive? What is this mess I have to go through ?

If the updates won't be installed until the PC is rebooted I guess I won't be getting any updates anyway^^
