Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Talking Point: Wii U Gamers Have Been Treated Poorly By The Third-Party Retail Scene, But The System Still Brings Joy

Did anybody buy a Wii U actually expecting long term third party support? Honestly? It isn't as if third parties were just going to change their tune towards Nintendo after two generations of basically turning completely over to Sony, another generation of halfassing almost everything they did on the Wii, and then going back to Sony once again this generation.

Nintendo consoles sell to Nintendo fans who want to play Nintendo games.

They were there at the beggining, they were treated poorly by the Wii U owners (generalisation)

There's only 2 races: White and 'Political Agenda'
2 Genders: Male and 'Political Agenda'
2 Hairstyles for female characters: Long and 'Political Agenda'
2 Sexualities: Straight and 'Political Agenda'

It kinda goes both ways. Nintendo didn't supply 3rd parties with what they wanted and they requited that.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

As highlighted at the top of this article, it's arguably done an admirable job in fostering a small but brilliant library of games, though it had little choice but to do just that.

Pretty much sums up the Wii U's library nicely, if your a Wii U owner your not gonna get as many games at PS4/X1 owners but the games are good, not to say the games on PS4/X1 aren't good.

The only way that Wii U was going to get continued 3rd party support is if every Wii U owner bought every 3rd party game to ever come out on the system at launch and for the first 2 years. Even then it would be a dicey situation.

As the article said, we were given shit and expected to buy it. I did, but most do not care.

Not all were shit, I played a good amount of third party games on my friends Wii U and it felt fine.

Monolith is not "outside" of Nintendo. Its a Nintendo first Party Studio like Retro.

I still can't understand who buys games like Mass Effect 3 on Wii U...
Wii U doesn't have the target audience for these games!

"Xenoblade Chronichles X from Monolith Soft join the list of strong experiences from outside Nintendo"

Lol

The fate of the Wii U's 3rd party support was sealed when it launched alongside sequels to two of the biggest 3rd party AAA franchises in the industry (COD BLOPS II and AC3) and both versions sold peanuts on the Wii U. If the two biggest 3rd party multiplatform franchises couldn't find a foothold on the Wii U, then what on Earth would make you think any other 3rd party title would be able to?

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.
