LuckyTrouble said: The only reason Akame ga Kill seemed to get so weirdly homicidal is because it got ahead of the manga and the writers just went ahead and made up the better part of the last half of the show. It would benefit from getting the FMA: Brotherhood treatment at some point, being redone and sticking to the source material. |
Thought that was because ratings sucked?

That could have been due to the fact that even in the first half, apparently events weren't exactly translated 1:1 from the manga. If you read around a bit, you'll see that production for the anime was a little bit off, a huge chunk of the manga was flat out skipped over, things were changed, altered, etc., and Full Metal Alchemist is just the most popular comparison I have for what they ultimimately ended up doing to it. In the end, they didn't make a bad product, but at the same time, it isn't the anime adaptation people actually wanted.

Yeah, I read something similar, but I still think that no matter how different an anime is from the manga, if people like the anime enough they will watch it. For example, I heard that Sailor Moon deviated A LOT from the manga, but was obviously very successful. The reboot, which from what I heard was extremely close to the mange, did not do that well. From what I saw, it felt like a completely different show. My point being that sticking to the original material is not necessarily always good.
Anyway, I've never read a manga (tvried reading the akame ga kill manga and was bored to death) but Akame ga kill seemed awesome to me. I get why things like Dragon Ball GT failed, or even Bleach (they both got boring in my opinion), but for me Akame ga kill was perfect the entire time. Loved every single thing about it.
