Forums - Sales Discussion - Revenue of the largest computer and video game publishers worldwide in 2015 (in billion euros)

It's good to see Sony getting high revenues on its videogame division. And it's impressive of Microsoft and Nintendo not being too far behind. It would be interesting to see the profit information of the three with Sony and Microsoft restructuring the companies

Despite the amount of people who actually play mobile games, their developers clearly don't make as much as traditional gaming companies do. This graph obviously can't show the whole story, but it's nice to see traditional developers still doing well in spite of the mobile craze.

Also, those Nintendo numbers are absolutely sad compared to what they had last generation.

There's not that much of a mobile craze anymore, it's more like the top 5% of devs making 90% of mobile gaming revenue. Everythings pretty much f2p to survive on mobile, and only the top 100 in any store actually make decent money.

And this ladies and gentlemen is why the PS4 is still $399

Would like to see profits. Revenue tells us some things, but profits would tell us more.

Profits would tell a completely different story. Sony doesn't usually sell their hardware at a big profit, and according to Yoshida, only 3 or 4 out of 10 of the games Sony publishes actually make money

I think 350 million in profits is excellent.  But  thats just me.  The more compelling thing for me is the fact that they only made like 91 million last year on PlayStation.  They make a lot on platforming fees obviously, but I think this also show that the PS4 is selling for well above cost.   Somewhere I read that they are expecting lower revenue this year.  I just don't see how that is remotely possible unless they lower the price.  The math doesn't add up.

They forgot Valve in that list, with people buying CS:GO keys like crazy, with Dota 2, the marketplace, royalties and so on they should be absolutely under the top spots.

hmm, $350m is just okay. I mean considering the fact that there are 8m+ PS+ subs, PS3 should be sold at a nice profit by now, and PS4 should be sold at a profit also. Its probably much better than Xbox though. Although we'll never know, I think Xbox is losing money.

Valve being a private company might be harder to get the details.

More than anything, this really tells us how absolutely dominant Tencent is right now. Games only, they're at the top by a mile.

Yes according to forbes  valves dota makes about 18mill a month ,  League of Legends in comparison takes just 5 days to make the same amount .
