Forums - Gaming Discussion - Some off screen footage of BLOODSTAINED: Ritual of the Night. How close do you think it will come to looking concept? Better or worse than MN9?

Doesn't look like it's worth the budget. Games like Divinity: Original Sin and Pillars of Eternity blow this out of the water graphically.

no. Both look like generic PC RPG games. The artstyle allready looks better for Bloodstained and its smoother. original sin is also 3D

Yeah, everyone loves repeating backgrounds of gigantic windows. So creative.

I love how you call Bloodstained creative (what we have seen so far is incredibly bland, it might as well be a gag in the Simpsons, in fact it was), but two KS masterpieces generic... So what if Divinity is in 3D? That means it's more demanding and it still looks better.

what they showed from Bloodstained is alpha material of course the background is repeating. I allready like this alpha fotage artstyle betetr than both games you have mentioned, it allready looks like SotN

SoTN looked terrible (game was good though!), it can't even compete with Metroid: Fusion, Metroid: Zero Mission or TLOZ: Minish Cap graphically.

O_O

Thanks for proving my point.

Oh and next time don't include a screenshot of Super Metroid please. It kind of destroys your credibility. ;)

I would far rather the game were just fully 2D. I think Mighty No. 9, for instance, would be VASTLY better looking (and likely better playing), if it were also just 2D. BUT, since this is for some insane reason also going to be using the Unreal engine, I would like to hope that the characters and monsters/bosses/items/etc., at least, will be 2D, and maybe the stages will have some kind of 3D elements. To me, 3D side scrollers simply NEVER look or play as tightly and fluidly as fully 2D ones.

Disagee, good 2.5D games are in my opinion a lot more breathtaking than 2D games. Good examples are Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze or Yoshi's Woolly World.

But yeah, Mighty No. 9 would've been better as a 2D sprite based game. Can't make that conclusion for Bloodstained yet though, need to see the finished product first.

what point? The picture isnt even the fullscreen and yet still looks better than super metoid. SotN had a higher resolution, transperent sprites, seperated backgrounds moving, 3D animated sprites, 3D effects, and more detail in the background than all of the games including super metoid

1) I never mentioned Super Metroid, I think that game looks like ass.

2) I'm not talking about what's more impressive on a technical level. I'm talking about what looks good.

3) Less is more, beauty lies in simplicity, etcetera. Those 3D effects you're bragging about have aged horribly.

4) The SoTN pictures/GIFs would look a lot worse in full screen, not better. The game is no sight to behold on a big HD TV.
