But i think it's a really bad decision from Square, holiday 2016 has too many games already, it would have been better for summer

I agree. The holidays are always too competitive.

I'll be picking up the PC version when it's dirt cheap like I promised.

$10 for PC version with Steam sales ? :)

This whole thing is one of the silliest chapters I've seen in gaming history. The whole timed thing has probably wiped a few hundred thousand dollars off the sales it could expect, and this announcement today will affect loyalty sales and Xbox one sales just for this game.

The best thing they could do is give Microsoft their money back, and give the game a chance. There is no way they can be happy with this announcement anyway. This year it could have been an hit. Against the likes of Horizon and 2016s other big hitters, a year late game, not even close to being as good as a game that came out in the Spring is bad business from start to finish.

It's probably not going to make the kind of sales that would justify a year's worth of lost sales on the PS4 to Crystal Dynamics, but the game still would have been competing with Uncharted 4, which would be no comparison at all to the typical Playstation consumer.

I would be surprised if that wasn't a factor with the decision to make TR a one year XBO exclusive.

Plus, figure the exclusive deal was very likely made before it became apparent that the PS4 would become the platform of choice by a landslide.

Still, TR fills a different niche genre on the XBO, and the franchise has regained some clout with the successful reboot, so I don't think it's going to tank on the XBO. There will be XBO consumers who want to play it first on their console.

The previous Tomb Raider sold something like 70% on PS4 though. TR audience is on Playstation consoles, that's a fact. This audience has no reason to buy a Xbox One now. Same thing for anyone owning a PC : enjoy the lots of Holiday games you have (Fallout, Star Wars, AC, CoD...), and when the calendar is empty again early 2016, you will have a better and cheaper version of the game.

Some fans will buy it on Xbox One, yes, so it will not tank that hard, but it will still be a failure IMO

It's interesting because the original Tomb Raider was more of a Playstation franchise even though it was ported to other platforms.

That more or less changed when Legend and Anniversary debuted on the XB360 as (at the time) exclusives. I actually bought an XB360 in 2007 in part to play those games even though the PS3 was already my platform of choice.

But when Uncharted was released in fall 2007, suddenly Tomb Raider looked very dated from a design standpoint and by U2, Uncharted became the definitive Playstation franchise. Tomb Raider, on the other hand, was seeing old ports on the PS3.

Regardless, because of the way the PS4 has unexpectedly run away with the larger market segment, I think it is pretty safe to say that TR will probably not hit the type of sales SE was expecting when they made the exclusive deal. It certainly won't move any XBOs for MS.

I fear Tomb Raider franchise will take the most damage from all this. Watch Dogs, Witcher 3 release date would have been much better.

I cannot imagine toilet-free life.

Kebabs have a unique attribute compared to other consumables. To unlock this effect you need to wolf down a big ass kebab really fast, like under 10 minutes or so and wait for the effect to kick in. If done correctly your movements should feel unbelievably heavy to the point where you literally cannot move at all.

Will count the corpses tomorrow morning don't disappoint me, guys!

I don't have a gaming pc so I guess I'll be wating until 2017.

Microsoft didn't do a thing in the development of this game. They are simply paying to delay the other versions.

So I hope the PS4 version bombs so bad that the term "Timed Exclusive" dies a horrible death already.
