Forums - Movies & TV - Is "Minions" the worst thing to ever happen to cinema?

I can't say it was amazing but calling it the worst thing to happen to cinema is a bit of a stretch.

No it isn't.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

You should replace "cinema" with "memes"

Took my 6 year old daughter to it last week, one of the worst movies I have seen in a while, to bad DM 1 and 2 were quite good and enjoyable. Could not wait till this one was over. Daughter was even Meh about movie once we got out usally she says right after can we get that movie when it comes out.

Erm... no?

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Worst thing to happen to social media. That's about it.

No. This is already worse, and hasn't been released yet.

No. There is still great family films like "Inside Out" this Summer.

Worst thing to happen to Cinema was the Production Code of Censorship that retarded film development in the US for years back in the 50s and into the 60s. Once it was gone we saw a boom in creativity in the 1970s.

I did not know about that Production Code of Censorship, but it is true that by the 70's, movies became less restricted, which in turn made that decade one of the best in cinematography if not the best.

It is also known as the Hays Code

Thank goodness for other nations pushing the envelope and stealing light away from Hollywood to finally break, but it was a terrible era.

Well... I expected you to make an argument on how pointless the movie was, being a spin-off of a more successful movie. On how producers expect to make tons of money by copying what people liked about a movie and pasting it into a new canvas, milking it 'till they can't make money out of it. Or I thought you were gonna mention how creatively lazy the movie was.

Is Minions the worst thing that happened to cinema? Don't think so. There are many recent movies that could fit in what you've said. If you had mentioned any of the most recent Adam Sandler movies, or The Human Centipede, then I'd agree with you. But this is all subjective, I suppose.
