A PS3 version in mid/late 2016 seems pretty pointless.

To me, a 360 version is also pointless but doesn't stop them to make one ;)
But generally, yes, PS3 seems completely done with by now. But I guess it would still generate some sales. Sad that we don't have usage statistics of the old gen systems.
It will go to PS4, PS3, PC and OS X like all the other TR games. Tomb Raider is the king of multiplatform games, TR Underworld was even on PS2, where else should it go? Just look at how much money MS is rumored to have spent to delay the GTA IV DLCs in the other systems. Or the Skyrim ones. Or.. Still, they all happened at a later time.
But... but... I was told in another thread that this game needs to be a "remake" before it can be available on other consoles besides the X1.
It can't just be ported... D:
PS4/PC
Eitherway things go Sqaure will want to put the game on playstation in order to secure a healthy future for the franchise. I don't think MS would offer anything that would change their minds, a sum of money big enough to do so certainly would not be worth it on MS's side either. I don't see the game being a massive system seller for them to pay for full exclusivity
The only reason Microsoft got that Dead Rising 3 and Ryse deal was because the industry belived at the time, that Microsoft would steamroll Sony this gen. We all know this is not the case now. So there is no way Microsoft could get a similar deal again. So my bet is that Rise of Tomb Raider will probably be released 6 to 9 months later on PS4.
