Forums - Microsoft Discussion - 1.4m Xbox consoles shipped Q4

Given those numbers are not comparable because one set is for 360 alone and the other set is for 360+Xb one there is unfortunately only one set of data we can use for direct comparison, and that is not very accurate. But we can only work with the numbers we have.

However, if as you show above the 360 LTD shipments to June 2007 were 11.6 million then the VGC sell through number to the same date (well one week short) seems to be pretty accurate, and if anything a tad undertracked.

Are we estimating that Xb one is substantially undertracked here? If so then obviously my previous statement is entirely predicated on whether you think the VGC LTD sell through for Xb one is roughly credible or not.

Sorry, my friend.

But how long have you been on this site?

VGC is in no way or form accurated and past numbers are adjusted all the time. As much as I love this site it´s only guess work most of the time. They are amatures and their numbers shouldn´t be considered in any way or form official.  Unless you belive this site knows that 14 Xbox 360 in Japan last week.

Microsoft dosen´t have a landfill to dump unsold XOne, and for what we can infere the 360 is no more than 25% of total Xbox sales. By now it´s problaly closer to 20% in the most important markets.

I heard this community was biased towards Sony but this is unreal haha! This is an Xbox thread in the Xbox section yet 80% of the comments are from Sony fans trying to say anything they can to downplay these numbers. Every positive Microsoft post here is the same. One person says something good about Xbox and 30 people tell him why he's wrong. Do you guys really need this much reassurance that you bought the right console?

An increase YoY in shipments, but still rather low.

We know that XOne sold 623k in US, and X360 around 75k (estimate). Combined about 700k sales came from U.S. alone. Bleak everywhere else and overall when considered combined, in addition to adding up to less than 1.4m.

e=mc^2

Gaming on: PS4 Pro, Switch, SNES Mini, Wii U, PC (i5-7400, GTX 1060)

Yes, there will be people who will purchase the xbox one based on forza /gears remaster and it will continue to outsell the 360. Just look what is happening now without a main Halo or Gears title or any exclusive this first half of the year. It will outdo the 360 and possibly ps3 on a yearly bases.

Yes, but not in globally significant numbers. Forza has never pushed system sales in any substantial way and there is no reason to believe it will this time around. Remasters don't sell systems period. Any comparison with 360 prior to 2008 is dubious because 360 didn't really take off until 2008. And we all know that 360 really hit another gear when Kinect came along in 2011. It's pure speculaton to think that Xb one has anything on the horizon that can have a Kinect 1.0 like effect.

Look what's happening now? What's happening now is launch aligned Xb one is ahead of 360 by less than it was on 1 January this year. So 360 is catching up to Xb one, at a time when there was nothing much to push 360. And especially taking account of inflation the 360 was more expensive at this time than the Xb one is now, unless you were buying the gimped model with no HDD. It is undeniable that Xb one will fall behind 360 at some point, because PS4 and Xb one are selling to a market that has not substantially changed in size since the 6th generation. The only change last gen was a whole bunch of noobs came in with Wii and went out again once they got bored of Wii. 360 and PS3 largely shared the same pool of gamers as PS2 and Xbox, and PS4 and Xb one will also share the largely the same pool. In essence a +1 for PS4 over PS3 is a -1 for Xb one compared to 360. It's just the timing of these +es and -es that are being staggered. The +es for PS4 are coming in early because PS3 had a shit start. The -es for Xb one will kick in later because 360 had a great middle and end.

360's 2010 + 2011 will be hard to match or beat at 13.5M and 13.9M but I think its possible to have a lead at that point to end up fairly flat on the number and somewhat equal 360 sales in the sale period for when the console lifetime ends.

Geez this downplay is hilarious! It's a good increase YOY, and for people pointing out that it's starting to fall behind PS3/360....well duh, nobody's expecting it to sell 85M. But it is doing well!

They're shipping more now in preparation for the holidays. They know the X1 will be beasting in the US.

Xbox One sales were absolutely terrible in Q4 2014 with no games and a kinectless SKU finally launching in June. So really no surprise that it's up.

Not bad!

They are doing now what Sony did last gen, providing combined sales because of pr.

Well, I don't know what Sony has to do with my question, but seems like it was an "yes".

You don't? It's behavior that happened before. For reasons I already provided. But congrats to interpret a "yes", even when it's not actually written.

You don't seem to understand how supply chains work. MS can't just overship constantly. They sell to retailers and can only ship what these retailers buy from them, they can make incentives etc for retailers to purchase extra but they can't just ship extra. No company can know for certain how many units are sold to consumers, financial reports are legal documents where companies are legally required to be accurate and hence all companies say what they provably know which is how many they sold to retailers.

Youre talking to a guy who once told me MS should have up to the second sales data WW for their products. So yeah.. of course some here believe if MS shows up at a businesses doorstep with 2,000 Xbox consoles, the business has to buy them all no matter how long it will take to sell them.

Oh, you just had to come in with that BS. Clearly you still haven't learned how to read. I've corrected you time and again on this, but you just can't let it go, in order to undermine my comments.

When MS, back in 2013, was saying the XBOnes were sold out at most major retailers, you could easily go to Walmart.com, Gamestop.com, Target.com, Amazon.com, etc. (or just go an availability site like nowinstock.net, for aggregated results) and see that XBOnes were clearly in stock at the time. So, no, they weren't sold out. If you're foolish enough to believe that that is me saying "they should have minute by minute updates on stock" then you're a worse spin doctor than Greenberg. If MS says "we're sold out" and the major retailers say "there's XBOnes available", that's not me saying MS should have up to the second sales data. That's me saying that they're making false statements, based on very publicly accessible information. Not to mention, there were several reports/articles of stockpiles of XBOnes available at many retailers across the US. And pages worth of posts on /r/XboxOne of people saying "XB1s are available here, here, and here". And, while anectdotal, several pics popping up on the internet of people showing stockpiles of XBOnes at their local stores, showing up daily. All of this being easily obtainable information, all the while MS saying "we're sold out"....and you turned that into "you think they should have minute to minute tracking" =/

Quit your BS. Because, technically, bringing up what people have said in the past into a current thread is grounds for a warning/ban. So not only could I report you for that, but you'd get a warning/ban based on your own lack of reading comprehension causing you to distort my post history. Now, you don't want that, do you?

edit: here's an example of one of my posts in that thread: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=5868882. I referred to the anectdotal pictures of massive stockpiles people were posting, and also the fact that Amazon, in particular, had stock at the time of my posting. And how you could see the same thing at other sites if you go to zoolerts and wiilerts to see that XBOnes were readily available at the time. This is the kind of stuff that you said was me saying "they should have up to date tracking on every unit sold". See how silly you look?
