Forums - Microsoft Discussion - 1.4m Xbox consoles shipped Q4

TFW some people don't realize that stores ship consoles back to MS, then MS ships em right back to inflate their shipped numbers.

Yep. In the end, there are only 1000 "customers" in US, mainly MS employees that got them gifted. They are now paid to desperately create some hype on internet forums for a better image but we see how this is going considering stores ship consoles back to MS.

A lot more than 1k. However that's what happens. Stores have limited shelf/storage space. If something else is selling they store and sell that(ps4). What ever is not selling gets sent back and reordered when space clears up/there is demand. That's why there is such a disparity between total shipped and total sold for the Xb1 and how they manage to keep shipping consoles given the limited shelf space.

How big is the disparity? What are the actual numbers?

Except PS4 and XB1 have been pretty close in the US Apr, May and June 2015. What makes you say one is being sent back while the other is being constantly ordered?

LOL they havn't been close.. Ps4 has outsold them by several thousand every week in april may and june in the US. That's not pretty close. That's a large an increasing gap. Yeah XB1 sold some but in that time they didn't sell what they shipped. Which means they've had to return consoles. They shipped 1.4m in US from april-june. Their sales were only roughly   480k.    http://www.vgchartz.com/tools/hw_date.php?reg=USA&ending=Monthly

More than half shipped than sold in the same time frame. They sold around 480k while shipping 1.4m Considering ps4's increased sales at the time it's safe to say they likely returned 1-2/3rds of that 500k+ back

You do know that the 1.4m shipped is not US only right? And its not XB1 only. And the sales were around 513k for those 3 months in the US. VGC isn't up to date.

XB1 won April NPD by 13k, lost May NPD by 13k and lost June's by like 68k. 68k isn't a large gap over 3 months.

Worldwide sales on VGChartz  April - June

Xbox 360 -145,277

Xbox One - 896,560

Total - 1,041,837

Looking like there slightly under tracked and more likely 1.1M.
