We go back to our tent and there is a bear in it. I say "oh no, what do we do?!" Donald Trump says "Let's slather our dicks in honey and dance for the bear." I say, "What the fuck trump, that's a terrible idea!" Then you chime in with , "Perhaps you have a better way of fixing this crap, Please, I'm all ears." The fact that I don't have a better plan doesn't make his plan any less retarded. And you know what? I'm not running for president. "Well if random guy on the internet can't think of a better plan than Donald Trump on the spot, then his idea must be right." What a stupid argument. But I do have one idea. When addressing a foreign nation that has a huge impact on our economy, I probably wouldn't start with "Listen you motherfuckers, we're going to tax you 25%." Now you have companies cutting back in China and heading over to Mexico to manufacture an array of products. Not to mention that you have top American companies, like Ford (2.5 billion dollar plants), investing in Mexico as well. Then they will have to build this giant wall. Sounds like a lot of new job creation in Mexico if you ask me. You should probably try to research a guy a bit more before supporting him... you know? Cause Trumpy wants to impose something like a 30% tax on Ford cars coming out of Mexico to get rid of the plants there. So, if Trump has his way, we're not going to see any US investment in Mexico. So much for all those new jobs you propose. A giant publics works project that they don't have the infrastructure for is simply a stupid idea. |
Clap, clap, clap. I laughing and applauding you at the same time.
I mean, we're talking about a nation that subsidizes their farmers and these in turn compete (obliterate) internationally, with the competition muscling their flexible pricing. All that under trade agreements that only unilateraly benefits the US. Ask Brazilian cotton farmers.
And about currency devaluemen, US ain't faultless in this. They had a currency war in 09-11. China used to be the cry baby in this case.
Lots of new Golf Courses opening in the US's National Parks.

Thank you kindly. I honestly don't know a ton about this issue. Only the basics. But enough to know that losing one of our biggest trading partner is not a good plan. I would guess that part of the solution would be taxing the actual treasury notes instead of products. Chinese companies would still be fine doing business, but it would be more difficult for China to carry huge amounts of US currency.

Why should I have to think of a better idea when I fully support Donald Trump's idea? I never asked you to come up with a better idea. I don't really care what you to say about Chinese currency. Once you're running for an office that I have to vote for, then I'll ask you for a plan. As for this conversation, you've failed to show Trump's plan is a good one. You just went on a rant like "grrrrr China is bad! They manipulate currency!" which has no bearing on whether or not the plan is a good one. To go back to the analogy, we both realize that a bear in our tent is a problem. But just because the bear is a problem does not make dick honey a solution. And no, I said slathering honey on my dick is stupid. If you're too lazy to make up your own analogy, at least follow mine correctly. I do know that. I also know that those $2.5 billion dollar Ford plants were supposed to be built in Tennessee. Why are American car companies being bulit in areas outside of the United States when our own country needs jobs? Japanese cars are being exported to America yet our cars aren't being exported to Japan. We need to create jobs here in America instead of outsourcing them. Dude, you just mentioned this as a good thing that will invigorate Mexico's economy. Like about ten minutes ago. Why are you talking about Japanese cars? What does that have to do with anything that we were discussing? We were talking about Trump's idiotic plan for border control, and I'm not going to be dragged into a conversation about something completely different. |
China will only give up one-way free trade when they are coerced into doing so. They are making far too much money to ever give up this sweet racket voluntarily. So you have to take an aggressive stance and just do a 25% tariff to make them change.
Side Note: The American current budget fight and our mounting national debt are linked to trade. America is losing about $600 billion dollars, with a "B", a year in trade deficit.
Your only mention of why this tariff is bad is because this will create a "trade war". You know what's funny about the concept of a trade war? There is no actual historical precedent! In fact, there has never been a significat trade war. So your argument of why Donald Trump's idea is "retarded" is based off of nothing but you spouting nonesense. So Trump's idea is a good one because it is an agressive stance that will cause China to change their ways. I welcome you to go find another "trade war" to back up your "retarded" claim.
Since you are not running for president, then please provide me with the president that you would vote for and the exact stance they they have on this given issue.
Uh huh, and like just 10 minutes ago I just mentioned that this is bad for the American economy. What is so hard to understand about that? American car company built in Mexico. Mexico GOOOD, America BADDD. Get it?
Again, please provide another president that you would vote for that addresses the Mexico-USA border and their exact stance on the issue.

So yes, Me and Donny boy are standing over here approving of the 25% tariff on China while you have your dick slathered with honey dancing infront of the bear saying "I don't have a better plan", I just want to complain and do shit about China manipulating their currency. I do know that. I also know that those $2.5 billion dollar Ford plants were supposed to be built in Tennessee. Imposing a tariff on China would pretty much increase the cost of everything you buy without much benefit (iPhones would be 25% more expensive). I don't think any company would build a plant in the US to avoid the tax. "Simple" goods would most likely come from India, Brazil or Mexico. My guess is that electronics would most likely still come from China, as a 25% tariff would not be enough to offset the billion dollar investment in a new facility.
The US has a 25% import tax on light trucks, but companies like Chrylser still make them in Turkey and import them to the US (as passenger cars), and convert them to trucks here, and pass the extra costs to the consumer. Ford has also done this.
And for the record, here is a partial listing of automotive plants to demonstrate that American companies to make cars in Japan, and that most Japanaese cars are more American than you think:
