"Of course there are optimisations still to be done" just want people to see that they never implied the wii u version was done

Doesn't surprise me. Nintendo is basically ending the Wii U for the NX.

And if I had a time machine I would go back and rake them over coals too.  But I don't.  What we do have is the here and now and the big problem is that this "version" doesn't look like it ever existed.  They lied, lied outright to their fans and supporters.  They used the Wii U version to drum up hype and that was it.  It's a disgusting practice.  It having been done before doesn't make it any better.

What proof is there that they lied? They said they had it running 2 years ago, they were probably referring to the alpha version they had. They said that the wii u could play the core of the game, and it can at 20 fps. If anything, the wii u got more hype out of project cars (not the other way around), since people were using project cars as an example of the wii u's techincal feats. I get that people would be annoyed with the cancellation, but at least these devs were honest and didn't bust out yet another third party flop with poor wii u performance

The thing is they had nothing but glowing praise for the Wii U until Bamco picked them up.  And then they did a 180.  And there is no way you can say you had a "blast" in a racer at 20fps and lower.  But my theory is they never had any version beyond maybe a thrown together super early alpha running on the Wii U.  No one has seen it, not even an image.  And its wasn't about trolling Wii U owners, it was about using Nintendo focused sites to get coverage.  They got more noise over them being a racer on Wii U than anything else for the longest time.  It was a brilliant way to avoid competing with the big dogs for coverage.  Awful way to treat fans.

False advertising? They aren't selling a product, they are selling an investment. Investments don't always work out the way you want them to...

Once again, I'm sorry, but you're wrong. They're selling a product. If it was an investment, you'd get returns on the investment. This is a product - "pledge $x, get y reward". Not "pledge $x, get y% cut of profits" or "pledge $x, get $x*y in return if the game achieves a certain profit". It's a product.

And "false advertising" also covers services, including investments. It's how people can sue someone who sells fake investment properties, for instance.

You do get returns on the investment, a copy of the game if it releases and all of the other stuff they've been able to add into it thanks to any additional funds they received.

But Kickstarter is very clearly it's NOT an investment (I.e. you can't uses it to buy real estate properties and other things.)  So I don't know if WiiU supporters are just out of luck.

Same like the OC Riff, when they sold to Facebook supporters got a 'thanks for supporting us' but no kickback money in the billions of profit.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

Kickstarter is a place to invest in a start or initiative, not to own something (hence the name). As long as initiative was taken and the money was used to progress on the project, I believe it is fine to leave it hanging if the resources weren't enough.

Example: let's say I got $3000 of kickstarter to make a game, and of that $3000, I pay a programmer $2000 to help me. If the money isn't enough to continue the game after I payed the developer, I can't exactly ask him for a refund to give back to the backers. That's not me scamming you guys, that's just me not having the resources to continue

I'm pretty sure the alpha version (or whatever they had 2 years ago) wasn't as beefy back then to make the wii u go 20 fps.

The problem with your theory of using Nintendo fans for hype lies within your very own paragraph. Namely, they had nothing to show for the wii u version.

I very highly doubt they got most of their hype from Nintendo fans when they never showed anything on the wii u. Instead, they got their hype through trailers and pictures that didn't run on the wii u. Most of my friends that were really looking forward to project cars didn't even know of a wii u version. They knew about it because they were into racing (doesn't exist on wii u btw) and liked the detail they saw. Their campaign was a racing game made with the help of racers, for racing fans (which are non-existent on wii u)

Well, it was fun to believe. Maybe a Steam sale will make it more attractive but I'd rather play a racing simulator on a console.

So what happened with the people who crowd funded this game wanting it on the WiiU?

There weren't any as a Wii U ver was never on the table for investors.

Yeah I'm even curious to know what makes them think the NX would be much more powerful then the Wii U when we don't even know  what type of hardware it is, we all knew months before E3 the wouldn't be an NX announcement until next year as well so the statement about E3 doesn't make much sense. I don't think a Wii U version even existed tbh.
